This page walks through the owner's manual for the Ella LayDown tubs, the "ELLA LAY-DOWN WALK IN TUBS 30"x60" and 32"x72" OWNERS MANUAL," a 23-page document dated 6/15/23. One manual covers both sizes, and the site links the very same file from the LayDown60 and LayDown72 pages. This guide maps its sections, explains which pages apply to which size and configuration, and flags the printed lines that our current published documents have since corrected. One 23-Page Manual for Both Sizes

The two download links, lay-down/60.pdf and lay-down/72.pdf, are byte-identical. The LayDown 30x60 measures 30"W x 60"L x 21"H; the LayDown72 is 32"W x 72"L nominal. If an older brochure cover in your paperwork prints the 60 as 30" x 52", that is a known cover misprint; the spec sheet and the live product page are the references. Other documents for each size are listed in manuals, spec sheets and drawings by model.

Section Map

1. Unpacking and moving. Record any freight damage with the driver. "Remove all access panels and toe kick plates if applicable before carrying," and lift by the frame only.
2. Safety. Licensed plumber and electrician, dedicated GFCI circuit, no appliances within 3 feet, no hydro jets below the waterline, 100.4 F caution.
3. Hand shower barrel extension. This warning "only applies to the lay-down with hand mixer option 32" x 72"."
4. Pre-installation water test. Fill 3 inches above the highest jet, 30 minutes standing, 30 minutes running; see the pre-installation water test.
5. Drain installation. A single 2" drain; the manual notes the connection direction is optional, fewer turns drain faster, and the house drain should be verified first.
6. Leveling, service access and door seal. Equal weight on every leg, no insulation around the equipment, keep the door open when not in use; see the LayDown door seal installation video if the seal needs attention.
7. Wall finishing. The same tile-flange method as the walk-in tubs: a rustproof 1/8" or 3/16" strip about 5" tall, 2" overlap, 100 percent silicone.
8. Operations, cleaning, warranty and the activation form. Below.

Tools and Parts You Need

• Rated three-prong extension cords and drain tape for the water test; 100 percent silicone for wall finishing.
• For the 32x72 hand mixer option only: the extension hose and stainless barrel before any wall mounting of the hand shower.

Therapy Option Applicability and Soaking Models

The manual states plainly: "Lay down tub Models with this option: 1. Air, 2. Hydro, 3. Micro. Note: Soaking tubs don't apply." A LayDown ordered as a soaking tub has no therapy controls, so the control, hydro, air and microbubble pages do not apply to it. On non-soaking models the control cluster is a Micro Infusion ON/OFF button, an Air Massage ON/OFF button, a Hydro Massage ON/OFF button and the hydro intensity control dial.

Operations: Glass Door, Single Drain Opener, Faucet Pages

The LayDown has an inward-swing glass door with the handle on the inside. Enter, remain standing, close the door, then settle in. Never open the door until the tub is completely drained. Handle and latch detail is in LayDown glass door operation.

There is one 2" drain opener; turn it clockwise to open and counter-clockwise to close, and do not fill above the center of the drain handle.

The manual includes pages for both the 2-piece fast-fill faucet (lift the lever, left hot, right cold, diverter button under the spout, lever down to turn off, 5 hand shower settings) and the 5-piece fast-fill faucet (red and blue handles, middle diverter lever toward "OFF" and faucet lever pushed down for the hand shower). Those pages apply only to a LayDown72 ordered with a deck-mount faucet. The LayDown60 does not come with a faucet, so plan on a pre-existing or new wall-mounted or other customer-supplied faucet. The LayDown72 comes faucet-ready, and an Ella 2-piece or 5-piece deck-mount fast-fill faucet can be specified as an option on the order. The diagram page is titled "Lay-Down Inward-Swing Door Walk-In Bathtub 30x60 and 32x72 Hydro Models." The 32x72 drawing shows the pull-out adjustable hand mixer, water intake, hydro intensity dial, foot hydro jets, 2" drain opener, hydro jets on/off and the glass door; the 30x60 drawing is similar without the hand mixer. The hydro jet photo, keyed "This Model Tub is the Lay-Down 30x60," shows fixed hydro massage jets at the back and sides and adjustable hydro massage jets at the feet. The air jet photo, keyed "This Model Tub is the Lay-Down 32x72," shows fixed air massage jets. The in-line heater and ozone follow the hydro pump, and the LED light cycles through 8 colors.

Printed Lines That Have Since Been Corrected

1. Auto Purge timing. The manual prints "20 minutes after the pump has been turned on." The published figure is that about 20 minutes after you turn the air massage pump off, the Auto Purge starts automatically and runs for 120 seconds to blow leftover water out of the air lines. It cannot be interrupted and you do not need to leave the tub.
2. Faucet pages. As above, they apply only to a LayDown72 ordered with a deck faucet, never to a LayDown60.
3. Equipment warranty. The warranty page prints a five-year term on supporting equipment. The current warranty is Lifetime Limited on all supporting equipment as well as the shell, frame, door, seal and finish.

Cleaning and Warranty Pages

On therapy models, flush before first use and monthly: 2 cups white vinegar with 2 cups water, fill to one inch above the highest jets, run the jets 10 minutes, drain. Use the approved cleaners listed in the manual and avoid abrasives and bath bombs. The warranty pages give the thermostatic control valve a 1-year limited term and close with the two-page Warranty Activation Form for owner and installer. Complete and sign both, include a copy of your receipt and the electrician's license and insurance information, and submit it online at ellasbubbles.com/warranty-activation/ or by mail; you can complete it now if it was missed at installation.
