The most common warranty questions we hear all come back to the same facts: the Ella's Bubbles Lifetime Limited Warranty is a parts warranty extended to the first purchaser at the original installation address, and it works the same way whether your tub came through a dealer, a retailer, an installer or another Ella partner. This page gathers the ten warranty questions we hear most often and gives each one a short answer drawn from the published warranty at ellasbubbles.com/warranty/. For the full coverage table, the claim process, transfer rules and the list of things that void coverage, see the dedicated articles linked from each answer.
1. Does the Warranty Apply If I Bought from a Dealer or Retailer?
Yes. The manufacturer's warranty comes from Ella's Bubbles and is the same regardless of where you purchased. One important detail: Ella's Bubbles reserves the sole authority to make warranties or representations about its products, so any extra promises made by a dealer, retailer, distributor or contractor are that partner's own commitment rather than part of the Ella warranty. Our article on dealer and installer purchases explains how activation and claims work when a partner handled your sale.
2. Does the Warranty Cover Labor?
No. Warranty service consists of shipping the replacement part to the original customer's address without charge, subject to verification of the defect or malfunction. Ella's Bubbles is not liable for incidental expenses or material charges connected with removing or replacing the product or parts, and does not warrant installation, plumbing or electrical connections. The labor on your installation is warranted by the contractor who performed it. What you do receive from Ella's Bubbles is free lifetime technical support to guide you or your contractor through a repair. See parts, labor and free lifetime tech support explained.
3. Why Is the TCV Only One Year?
The thermostatic control valve (TCV) is the one component the published warranty carves out. It carries a 1-year limited warranty that does not cover cartridge malfunction caused by contaminated water with calcium, iron or other heavy particles, which can leave the cartridge stuck and the valve not operating properly. The TCV must be protected by a filter or mesh in the water lines, cleaned periodically, and any removal or cleaning should be done by a licensed and insured contractor or plumber. Non-Ella brand faucets are covered by their own manufacturer's warranty rather than by Ella's Bubbles. Details are in warranty exceptions: the TCV and non-Ella faucets.
4. What If the Activation Form Was Never Sent?
Activation is required to put the warranty in force. The two-page Warranty Activation Form is signed by both the customer and the installer and returned with a copy of the sales receipt and the installer's electrician license and insurance information, most easily online at ellasbubbles.com/warranty-activation/. We recommend doing this promptly after installation, but the activation page itself says the form may be filled out later if the tub was not yet installed, and the published warranty sets no registration deadline. If yours was never sent, submit it now. If you are opening a request at the same time, mention on the ticket that you have just activated, and the team can confirm it was received.
5. Am I Covered If I Bought the House with the Tub?
The warranty is nontransferable. It applies only to the original owner and the original installation address, and it is void if ownership changes or the tub is relocated. That said, every Ella tub still has access to lifetime technical support and replacement parts, so a second owner is never left without help. Our article on warranty transfer and ownership covers the scenarios in detail, and the first-week guide for second owners walks you through identifying your model and getting set up.
6. My Manual Says 5 Years on Pumps and Controls, Which Is Right?
The current published warranty grants a Lifetime Limited Warranty on all supporting equipment: motors, pumps, fixtures, electronic controls, faucet, waste, overflow and plated finishes. Older owner's manuals and some legacy spec sheets still print an earlier text with a limited five-year term on those same parts. The current published document is the reference, and the team confirms your coverage from your serial number and order record. The article on older manuals and the current warranty explains this in full.
7. Is a Worn Part Covered?
The warranty covers defects in workmanship and material under normal use and conditions, not ordinary wear. As an example, a drain plug stem that has simply unthreaded and dropped down the drain is treated as wear and tear, while a stem that snapped is reviewed as a possible defect once a photo shows where it failed. A pump run without water above the jets and a TCV cartridge fouled by hard water are also excluded. Every case is decided by the team after seeing photos, so the best first step is always to send a clear picture. More examples are in defect or wear and tear.
8. Do I Have to Send the Old Part Back?
Sometimes. When a control box is replaced, the shipment may include a return label so the defective box can be diagnosed. For most other parts nothing needs to go back, but please keep the old part until the ticket confirms the replacement solved the problem. The team will tell you on your ticket if a return is needed.
9. Does an Installer's Mistake Affect Coverage?
Yes. The warranty does not apply to failures resulting from improper or negligent installation, alteration or modification, and the door and door seal warranty is valid only when the tub and door are aligned correctly and the alignment is not changed by leaning a bather's weight on the door. Ella's Bubbles is also not responsible for water damage to structures or property for any reason. Installation questions that could affect coverage are worth a quick ticket before the work is done; the complete list is in what can void your warranty.
