New to a Home With an Ella Tub? A First-Week Guide for Second Owners

Updated September 2026

If you have just moved into a home with an Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub already installed, welcome. As a second owner you can identify the model from the serial label and the shape of the door, download the right manual from the product page, and reach the same lifetime technical support and replacement parts that every Ella owner enjoys. The Lifetime Limited Warranty itself belongs to the first purchaser at the original installation address and does not transfer, but that does not leave you on your own. This guide covers what to find, what to check and who to call in your first week.

Step 1: Find the Serial Number

Serial Number Location

The video shows where the label lives. Your tub's serial number is on the label behind the magnetic access panel next to the door. Pull that panel gently away from the frame, no tools needed, and photograph the label. The serial number tells the team when the tub was made, who built it and which replacement parts are compatible, so it is the single most useful thing a second owner can have ready. Serial numbers typically begin with the letter M. Watch: Ella's Bubbles: Serial Number Location with a full transcript.

Step 2: Identify the Door Family and Model

Ella tubs are grouped by door style, and the door is usually the fastest way to narrow down the model before the serial number confirms it:

  • Inward-swing acrylic door on models such as the Standard, Zen and Flow.
  • Inward-swing stainless steel door on the Elite, Ultimate, Deluxe, Royal and Petite, and an aluminum-framed frosted glass inward-swing door on the Ultra.
  • Outward-swing U-shape door on the Capri, Monaco, Lounger, Mobile, Front Entry, ShaK and Big4One.
  • L-shape outward-swing transfer door on the wheelchair Transfer family.

If you are still unsure, send two or three photos of the tub, the door and the serial label on a ticket and the team will identify the model for you. Our guide to identifying the brand and model from labels, doors and faucets goes deeper, including how to tell whether the tub is an Ella at all.

Step 3: Download the Manual

Every product page on ellasbubbles.com has a Downloads section with the spec sheet, the owner's manual, operating and cleaning instructions and the warranty form. Manuals are written per door family rather than per individual model, so the outward-swing manual covers the Capri, Monaco and Lounger, and the stainless-steel door manual covers the Elite, Ultimate, Deluxe, Royal and Petite. If the previous owner left paperwork behind, keep it, but be aware that older printed manuals may show an earlier warranty text. Find your manual, spec sheet and drawings by model lists which document belongs to which tub.

Step 4: Understand Your Warranty Position

The published warranty is extended to the first purchaser only, is nontransferable, and applies to the original owner at the original installation address. When ownership changes, the warranty is void. What continues for every Ella tub is lifetime technical support by phone, email and video, and access to replacement parts for the tub, including door seals. If you are considering moving the tub to another home, please read warranty transfer and ownership first.

Step 5: Run a First-Week Checklist

  1. Look at the door seal. Wipe it with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue, and check that it is seated evenly with no deformation. If it is stuck or misshapen, squeeze the seal gently with your fingertips and pull it away from the door frame to restore its shape.
  2. Leave the door open when the tub is not in use. This is the single best habit for a long seal life.
  3. Confirm the electrical. Ella tubs are installed on a dedicated GFCI-protected circuit. If you cannot tell whether the tub has one, an electrician can confirm it quickly.
  4. Check both drain stoppers. Each drain must close completely and the locking nut must be tightened on both stoppers, otherwise the tub can lose water during a bath. Do not fill above the center of the drain handle.
  5. Do a 20-minute water test. Fill the tub, wait 20 minutes and confirm the door seal is watertight before you rely on it.
  6. Flush the jets. Mix 2 cups of white vinegar with 2 cups of water, fill the tub to one inch above the highest jets, add the mixture, run the tub for 10 minutes, then drain. This is the same flush recommended once a month.
  7. Operate every control once. Hot and cold, both diverters, the hand shower on every setting, the hydro and air pumps, and the chromatherapy light. Fill the tub above every jet before switching a pump on. A light humming noise when nothing seems on is the ozone sanitizer and is normal, and the air system's automatic purge about 20 minutes after a bath is normal too.

The seal is the part a second owner most often inherits in unknown condition, and this video covers its care. Clean the seal and door frame regularly with a common household cleaner, since residue or debris in the seal or frame causes leaks. If a seal is loose or damaged it can be replaced and secured with a thin bead of silicone in the gasket channel, allowed to set before the gasket is reinserted and left 24 hours to dry. And leave the door slightly open when the tub is not in use so the gasket is not compressed. Full details are in caring for your door seal.

Common Questions

How do I find out which model I have?
Photograph the serial label behind the magnetic access panel and note the door shape, then send both on a ticket if you want the team to confirm.
Can I get the manual?
Yes, you can get the manual for your Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub. You can download the owner's manual, spec sheet, and operating and cleaning instructions from the Downloads section on the product page for your specific model on ellasbubbles.com. Manuals are grouped by door family, so an outward-swing manual covers models like the Capri, Monaco, and Lounger, while a stainless-steel door manual covers the Elite, Ultimate, Deluxe, Royal, and Petite. Alternatively, you can open a support ticket and the Ella's Bubbles team will send you the correct link for your tub's door family.
Is the warranty still in force for me?
The Lifetime Limited Warranty for Ella's Bubbles walk-in tubs is nontransferable and applies only to the first purchaser at the original installation address, so it does not pass to a new homeowner. When ownership changes, the warranty is void. However, as a second owner, you still have access to lifetime technical support by phone, email, and video, and you can purchase replacement parts for the tub, including door seals. If you are considering moving the tub to another home, it is recommended to review the information on warranty transfer and ownership.
How do I get parts or a seal?
To get replacement parts or a door seal for your Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub, open a support ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support. You will need to include your tub's serial number and a photo of the specific part you need. The serial number, found behind the magnetic access panel next to the door, helps the team identify the correct version of the replacement part, such as a door seal, to ensure the right one ships the first time. The team will then explain how the part is supplied.
What should I check before the first bath?
The seal, the stoppers, the 20-minute water test and the vinegar flush above, then a quick run of each control.
The tub turned on by itself. Is something wrong?
If your Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub seems to turn on by itself, it is probably not a problem. The air system performs an automatic purge for about two minutes, roughly 20 minutes after the air pump is switched off, which is a normal function. Additionally, the ozone sanitizer operates quietly on its own, producing a light humming noise even when nothing else appears to be on. Both of these occurrences are normal operational behaviors for the tub.
The previous owner left no paperwork. Can Ella look up the tub?
Yes, if the previous owner left no paperwork, Ella's Bubbles can still look up your tub's information. The serial number is the most useful item for this purpose, as it allows the team to determine when and how the tub was built. You should send the serial number, found behind the magnetic access panel next to the door, on a support ticket along with the installation address. This information will help the team identify your specific model and provide relevant support.
What cleaners are safe on the acrylic?
For cleaning the acrylic surfaces of your Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub, safe cleaners include mild dish soap in warm water or a one-to-one mixture of white vinegar and water, applied with a soft cloth. It is important to avoid using bleach, abrasive pads, or scouring powders, as these can damage the acrylic. For any specific cleaning instructions related to your model, you can open a support ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support.

For anything specific to your model, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850.
