If you are wondering where do I find the serial number, look on the inside of a removable panel on the tub apron. On stainless steel door models it is behind the large access panel on the seat side, and the serial number itself starts with the letter M. The first thing to check is that panel: pull it gently away from the frame, turn it over, and photograph the whole label so you have every number on it. As the video shows, the serial number sits on the inside of one of the removable panels, and it tells Ella when the tub was made, who built it, and which replacement parts are compatible.

Likely Causes

• Looking on the outside of the tub or on the faucet deck, when the label is on the inside face of a removable panel.
• A label that shows several numbers, so it is not obvious which one is the serial and which is the model or item code.
• A label that has fallen off, been covered during installation, or was never seen because the panel is boxed in by finished walls.
• A number from an invoice, such as 93117, being mistaken for a serial when it is a model or item reference.

What to Check, in Order

1. Find the removable panel. On stainless steel door models it is the large access panel on the seat side; on other models it is the magnetic panel next to the door. Our guide to service access panels shows which panels come off on each family.
2. Remove it gently. Magnetic panels lift away with no tools; if one feels tight, work from a corner. Other aprons use clips, screws or hook and loop tape.
3. Look at the inside face of the panel and just inside the opening. Photograph the entire label rather than copying one number.
4. Pick out the serial. It starts with M. The other numbers on the label are the model and item codes, which our model, SKU and part code decoder explains. A five digit number like 93117 from your invoice is a model reference, not the serial.
5. If the label is missing from the panel, for example on a Big4Two, do not worry. The team finds your order, item number, serial and ship date from the purchaser's name, email or shipping address. Dealer purchases can be identified from the dealer's records.
