How Do I Find My Walk-In Tub's Model Number and Installed Options?

Your walk-in tub's model number is on your proposal or invoice, and your serial number is on the label behind the magnetic access panel next to the door. The options actually installed on the tub, including the jetting combination and the faucet, are recorded on the original order and the packing slip, and the team can read them back from the serial number even when the order was placed by an organization, a contractor or a family member, as explained in Can Ella Look Up My Tub's Options If Someone Else Bought It?. For a parts order, a photo of the serial label is enough for the team to match the part to your exact build.

Three Numbers, Three Different Jobs

Owners often send the wrong number because the label and the paperwork carry several. Each one answers a different question.

  • Serial number. Unique to your tub. It tells the team when the tub was made, who built it and which replacement parts are compatible. The factory's quality-control records are kept by serial number, so it is the number the support team asks for on every request. Serial formats vary, and on stainless steel door models the serial starts with the letter M, so copy it exactly as printed rather than from memory.
  • Model number, sometimes called the SKU. Identifies the model and configuration: tub style, size, therapy package and door side. It is shared by every tub built in that configuration, and it appears on your proposal or invoice rather than on the tub. A five digit number such as 93117 on an invoice is a model reference, not a serial.
  • Item and part codes. The label can show more than one number, so it is not always obvious which is the serial. Photograph the whole label rather than retyping one number, and let the team pick out which is which.

Our guide to where to find the serial number on your Ella walk-in tub explains how to read the tag itself: the first set of numbers is the manufacture date of the tub and the second set is the unit's own serial number.

Where the Serial Label Is on Your Tub

  1. Find the large access panel on the front of the tub next to the door. On stainless steel door models it is the large access panel on the seat side.
  2. Pull it gently away from the frame. Magnetic panels lift off with no tools, and if one feels tight, work from a corner. Other aprons use clips, screws or hook and loop tape.
  3. Turn the panel over and look at its inside face and just inside the opening. Photograph the entire label.
  4. If that side is closed in by cabinetry, check the back wall side of the tub shell, where the serial number is repeated.
  5. If the tub is fully enclosed and neither spot can be reached, look at the shipment confirmation and tracking message from when the tub shipped. It lists the serial number for the unit, so it may already be in your order emails or your installer's paperwork.

The serial number location video on this page shows that the label sits on the inside of one of the removable panels and explains what the number tells the team. If you cannot reach any panel, Where Do I Find the Serial Number on My Walk-In Tub? covers which panels come off on each family and what to do when the label has fallen off or was covered during installation.

Why the Model Name Alone Does Not Tell You the Options

Every Ella walk-in tub is built around one specific order. The faucet options video on this page explains it from the shop floor: when an order is placed, a tub is pulled down with that order's name on it, it is drilled for whichever faucet was selected, and it is fitted with whatever features were chosen for that tub. Two tubs of the same model can therefore leave the building with different faucets and different therapy systems. That is why the question of which jetting combination you have is answered from the unit and its order, not from the model name.

The crate label is not a complete answer either. It shows only the base therapy system, such as Air + Hydro or Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot. Microbubble is an accessory installed on the tub before it ships, and it is printed on the packing slip rather than on the crate, as described in The Crate Label Does Not List the Microbubble Option I Ordered. In order of usefulness, the documents that list your full configuration are:

  • The order confirmation, which lists the model, the door side and every option selected.
  • The packing slip that traveled with the shipment, which lists installed accessories such as microbubble.
  • The crate label, which confirms the model and the core jetting configuration only.

If you have none of these, the serial number is enough. The team looks up the original order from the serial, reads back the model, the therapy package, the faucet and the door side, and can send the spec sheet and manual for that build.

When the Tub Was Bought Under Someone Else's Name

The lookup runs on the tub and the original order rather than on your name. Housing authorities, small businesses, contractors and family members all place orders for tubs that end up in someone else's bathroom, and the purchaser does not have to be a person. Collect as much of the following as you can. It is fine if some items are missing.

  • A photo of the serial label, sent exactly as printed.
  • Photos of the tub and the door, which help the team confirm the door style and the model when the paperwork trail is thin.
  • The installation address, which is the address the order record is tied to.
  • Whatever you know about the purchaser: the organization or person's name, the email used for the order and roughly when it was bought.
  • Where it was purchased. Dealer purchases can be identified from the dealer's records.

Open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call (800) 480-6850 with those details, and the team confirms the model and the options from the order record. If you are a second owner, or you bought a house with the tub already installed, the same steps apply. Will Ella Sell, Appraise or Help Me Resell a Used or Uninstalled Walk-In Tub? notes that a later owner can still get help identifying the tub, sourcing parts and getting technical guidance for the installer. The Lifetime Limited Warranty itself covers the first purchaser only and is tied to the original installation address, so the team confirms which coverage applies to your unit before a part ships.

Ordering the Right Part Once You Know the Build

Parts are matched to the serial number, because the serial tells the team which replacement parts are compatible with your tub's build. When you request a part, include the serial number, a photo of the part you need and a description of the problem, and mention which therapy systems the tub has if you know them. Keep the serial number with your sales receipt, because both are needed to activate the warranty and to file any warranty claim, and the activation form asks for the model number, the serial number and the purchase date together. Parts ship under the warranty after the team verifies the request, and a local licensed plumber or electrician does the labor.

Common Questions

Is the model number printed anywhere on the tub itself?
No. The model number, or SKU, appears on your proposal or invoice and is shared by every tub built in that configuration. The tub carries the serial label, which is unique to your unit. If you have no paperwork, the team can look up the model number from the serial number and the order record.
Can I tell which jetting combination I have from the crate label?
Only partly. The crate label shows the base therapy system, such as Air + Hydro, and does not list installed accessories such as microbubble. Compare the packing slip and your order confirmation for the full list, or send the serial number and the team reads the therapy package from the original order.
What if the serial label is missing or unreadable?
The team finds your order, item number, serial and ship date from the purchaser's name, email or shipping address. Dealer purchases can be identified from the dealer's records. The serial number is also printed in the shipment confirmation and tracking message sent when the tub left the warehouse.
Which number should I give when ordering a replacement part?
Give the serial number, exactly as printed on the label behind the access panel, along with photos of the part and a description of the problem. The serial tells the team when the tub was made and which replacement parts are compatible. The model number from your invoice is helpful but is not a substitute.
The tub was bought by a housing authority, can you still look it up?
Yes. The lookup is based on the tub and the original order rather than on your name, and organizations and contractors place orders for tubs that end up in someone else's home all the time. Send a photo of the serial label, the installation address and whatever you know about the purchaser.
Does the serial number tell the team which side my door is on?
The door side is part of the configuration recorded on the original order, and the team reads it back along with the model, therapy package and faucet when they look up the serial. Photos of the tub and door help confirm it when the paperwork is thin.

About this guide. Answers in the Ella’s Bubbles Support Center are compiled from real conversations with tub owners, our technicians’ notes and the product documentation, then reviewed by our team. Tub models and options have evolved over the years, so a detail here may differ slightly from your exact tub. If something looks different on yours, send us your serial number and a specialist will confirm it for your model.
