The Ella Transfer32 is the wide-seat 52 inch model in the wheelchair-accessible Transfer family. Its actual size is 32 inches wide by 52 inches long by 40 inches tall, and the extra 2 inches over the Transfer30 go into a roomier 24 inch wide molded seat. It is also the smallest Transfer model to offer a three-system package that combines air massage, hydro massage and Infusion microbubble therapy in one tub.

How the Hydro and Air Jets Are Arranged

Upper jets work the back, hips and thighs and lower jets the feet and calves, and the current spec sheet lists the jets by package: the Hydro Massage and Hydro + Hydro Foot packages list 22 hydro jets (16 seat and 6 foot), while the Air + Hydro package lists 17 air jets (11 seat including 2 bidet, 6 foot) and 11 hydro jets (5 back, 6 foot). The Transfer32 package menu on the current spec sheet is:

The three-system package runs a 4.5 amp three-speed air pump with auto purge, a 7 amp hydro pump with in-line heater and ozone, and a 1 HP 7.3 amp microbubble pump with its pressure vessel and agitator valve. The foot massage runs on its own separate pump with its own intensity control dial, so there is no need to fill the whole tub to enjoy the foot and calf jets; filling the footwell to seat level is enough. Included hardware matches the family: removable front apron with two access panels, one reversible end panel, the 8 inch extension panel, deck and wall grab bars, and two 2 inch four-port drains with two overflows and two openers.

Transfer32 Versus Monaco

Both are 32 by 52 inch outward-swing tubs that take an extension panel for a 60 inch alcove, so the choice is about the door and the seat. The Transfer32 has the L-shaped door with a two-latch lock, opens to 172 degrees and leaves no sidewall beside its 24 inch seat, which is what makes a wheelchair transfer possible. The Monaco has the U-shaped outward door with a three-latch lock, opens to 165 degrees on its drawing and lists a 23 inch seat on the comparison chart, so it keeps a low sidewall next to the seat. If the bather transfers from a chair or slides in sideways, choose the Transfer32; if the bather steps in and prefers the U-door look, the Monaco is the comparable size. Therapy Packages and Hip Jets Compared with the Monaco

Choosing the Transfer32 over the Monaco does not mean giving up therapy options. The Transfer32 can be configured with the same therapy package and the same accessories as the Monaco, so a hydro massage, air massage, independent foot massage and chromatherapy lighting build is available on either tub.

The one thing the Transfer32 cannot take is the set of four hydro massage water jets aimed at the hips that the Monaco offers. The Transfer32's frame and structural configuration do not leave room for extra water jets in the hip area. This is a frame limitation rather than a package limitation, so it cannot be solved by ordering a bigger package or by adding jets after delivery. In exchange, the Transfer32 gives you a longer seat than the Monaco. That length is part of what makes the tub wheelchair accessible and gives a bather more room to shift position while seated. Whether the extra length lets you lean back far enough for the upper jets to reach your shoulders depends on your height and torso length, so check the seat and backrest dimensions on both spec sheets against your own measurements.

If hip massage is the main reason you are buying a jetted tub, the Monaco is the stronger choice. If the bather needs a transfer seat, the Transfer32 with the same package covers everything else. Ask your dealer to configure both tubs with the identical package so you are comparing like for like.
