What electrical circuits does the Transfer32 three-system therapy package require?

Every three-system therapy package that lists the Transfer32 on a published Ella schematic runs on two dedicated, GFCI-protected 20 amp, 120 volt lines, one for each of two wall outlets. The number of lines follows the therapy package on your order rather than the model name, as explained in What Is a Dedicated Circuit for a Walk-In Tub?. Below you will find which three-system packages the Transfer32 can carry, how the two lines divide the pumps and heater, the amp ratings printed on the current spec sheet, and what to hand your licensed electrician before the tub arrives.

Which Three-System Packages the Transfer32 Can Carry

The current Transfer32 spec sheet, with a doc date of 05/07/26, prints six jetting options: Air + Hydro, Air + Hydro Massage + Microbubble Therapy, Hydro + Hydro Independent Foot Massage, Hydro Massage + Microbubble, Hydro Massage, and Soaking. The LED chromatherapy light, rated 0.5A with an on/off push control, is included with the Hydro + Air, Hydro + Micro and Hydro + Hydro packages and not with hydro alone. Two published component diagrams also list the Transfer32 with three systems:

Note that the spec sheet's option list does not print Air + Hydro + Hydro Independent Foot Massage for the Transfer32, while the push-control schematic does list the model. The package written on your order paperwork is what counts, so confirm it with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before your electrician plans the rough-in. What the table means for you: a Transfer32 with any three-system package needs two separate outlets, each on its own breaker, whereas a hydro-only or Air + Hydro tub needs one. The difference is not the model but the number of pumps and the in-line heater drawing current at the same time while a bather is in the water. If your electrician runs one line and your order turns out to carry two hydro pumps or a microbubble pump, the equipment will not all have a place to plug in, so settle the package first.

How the Two Lines Divide the Equipment

On the push-control Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot diagram, the electronic component controller, the control box, splits its output into Load 1 and Load 2, and the seat and foot hydro systems are drawn as fully independent circuits, each with its own hydro pump, push control and air flow intensity dial. The second video on this page, recorded on an Ultimate with the same three-pump package, shows the layout in practice. The control box runs two pumps, the air pump and the water pump, and the third pump is powered together with the in-line heater, which is why two lines are needed. The technician also points out that when one massage on a triple-massager tub is not working, the usual cause is that one pump or component is not plugged in, and that a green indicator light on the control box confirms power is reaching it.

On the Hydro + Hydro Foot + Microbubble diagram, the pump count rises to three: two hydro pumps and one microbubble water pump with its pressure vessel. The seat hydro push control and its intensity dial feed a relay switch that starts the seat jets hydro pump, and the ozone generator's output joins the seat hydro circuit so ozone sanitizes that plumbing. The foot system has its own intensity dial and pump, and the microbubble system has its own on/off button. Every powered item on these drawings is tagged for 110V household power.

The air pump on any Transfer32 air package is a three-speed pump with Auto Purge. About 20 minutes after you turn the air massage off, it starts on its own and runs for 120 seconds to blow leftover water out of the air lines, then stops. That is normal, and it means the air pump's line stays live after the bath.

What the Electrician Needs to Know

  • Each line is a wall outlet, GFCI protected, on a dedicated circuit, 20 amp, 120 volts. The Transfer32 runs on 115/120V, 60 Hz household power. A 240V version is not a published option.
  • Each pump, heater and control module carries its own labeled cord ending in a standard three-prong plug. Ella tubs are plug-in, never hardwired, and the labels let the electrician match each cord to its own outlet.
  • The breaker box must also use GFCI-protected breakers, and the tub cannot share a circuit with any other appliance, as the first video on this page explains.
  • Never use an extension cord, and keep other appliances at least 3 feet from the tub.
  • Leave the equipment compartment uninsulated and reachable so the outlets and the blue control box can be serviced. The Transfer32 has a removable front apron with two access panels for this purpose.
  • All Ella pumps and heaters are ETL certified.

For comparison, the only single-seat diagram in Ella's schematic family that calls for three outlets is the digital-controller package on the Shak and Big4One, described in What the Shak and Big4One Digital Schematic Shows. The Transfer32 is not on that diagram.

If One Massage System Stops Working

Start with the plugs. On a three-system tub, check that every pump cord and the heater cord are seated in their outlets, then look for the green light on the control box. If a breaker trips or the tub has no power at all, have your electrician confirm each dedicated line before assuming a pump has failed.
