The Ella Ultimate and the Ella Monaco are both Ella walk-in tubs, but they suit different bathrooms and different bathers. The Monaco measures 32 inches wide by 52 inches long and is the shorter of the two. Although it gives up length, it has a wider interior with a 23-inch seat and a lower step-in threshold. The Ultimate is the longer tub. If your space has room for the longer model, the Ultimate is the natural pick. If length is tight, or a low threshold and a wide seat matter most, look at the Monaco.

Size and Footprint

The Monaco is 52 inches long and 32 inches wide. The Ultimate is longer, so it needs a longer alcove or wall. Confirm the Ultimate's current dimensions on its specification sheet, or ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850. A 52-inch tub still fits a 60-inch alcove, because Ella tubs shorter than 60 inches include an extension panel that closes the gap at the wall. Step-In, Seat and Door

Although the Monaco is more compact in length, it offers a wider interior with a 23-inch seat, which makes it feel more spacious inside. The step-in is the other big difference. The Monaco's threshold is approximately 4 inches, compared with about 6 to 6.5 inches on the Ultimate, so the Monaco is easier to step over.

The Monaco has an outward-swinging U-shape door made of PVC composite and tempered glass with a 3-latch gear-and-shaft mechanism. Because the door swings out, it needs clear floor space in front of the tub. Check the Ultimate's specification sheet for its door style, and confirm clearance for either model with your installer.

Therapy Packages

The available jetting packages vary by model, so the first step is to choose the tub and then pick the package that suits you.
