Am I Eligible for the Ella Warranty If My Contractor Bought the Tub?

Yes. If a contractor bought the tub on your behalf for your bathroom, the Lifetime Limited Warranty should still be registered under your name at your address, because you are the one who owns and uses the tub. The warranty comes from Ella's Bubbles no matter where the tub was purchased, and Bought Through a Dealer or Installer? How Your Ella Warranty Works covers the general rules. This page focuses on the contractor case: whose name goes where, what you need from your contractor, and how to confirm what was included with the order.

Why the Homeowner Holds the Warranty

The Lifetime Limited Warranty is extended to the first purchaser and applies only to the original owner at the original installation address. When a dealer, remodeler or installation company handles the purchase and the installation, the warranty protects the customer using the tub at the address where it was installed. Many walk-in tubs reach their owners exactly this way, and it is a wonderful way to buy.

The Warranty Activation Form reflects that arrangement. Your name and contact information go in the owner section. The form also records the model, the serial number, the purchase date and the place of purchase, and the place of purchase is where your contractor's or dealer's name appears. So the contractor is on the record as the seller, and you are on the record as the owner. Either you or your dealer can open a claim.

Activating the Warranty After a Contractor Installation

Activation is what puts the warranty in force, and it takes both of you:

  1. Complete the two-page Warranty Activation Form. It must be signed by both you and your installer.
  2. Include a copy of the sales receipt. If your contractor made the purchase, ask them for a copy.
  3. Include your installer's electrician license and insurance information.
  4. Submit it online at ellasbubbles.com/warranty-activation/.

We recommend completing activation promptly after installation. If your contractor did not take care of it at install time, there is no need to worry. You can complete the form now, and the team can help you gather what is needed. Many dealers activate on behalf of their customers, so if you are not sure whether yours did, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support and the team can check what is on file.

It helps to ask your contractor for three things before they close out the job: their signature on the form, a copy of the receipt, and their license and insurance details. Those are much easier to collect while the project is fresh.

What You Can Do If the Order Is in the Contractor's Name

An order under someone else's name does not block the team from identifying your tub, because the lookup runs on the tub and the original order, not on your name. Contractors, housing authorities and small businesses all place orders for tubs that end up in someone else's bathroom, so this is a common situation.

Gather what you can before you contact your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850:

  • A photo of the serial label, which is behind the magnetic access panel next to the door. Send the number exactly as printed.
  • Photos of the tub and the door.
  • The installation address.
  • Whatever you know about the purchaser, such as the contractor's business name.

With that, the team can look up the original order, confirm the model and send the matching spec sheet and manual. Can Ella Look Up My Tub's Options If Someone Else Bought It? explains the lookup in detail.

What About an Accessory That Was Supposed to Come with the Tub?

Every Ella walk-in tub is built around one specific order, with the faucet and features selected for that order. That means the original order is the record of what was chosen for your tub. If you expected an accessory with your purchase and are not sure whether it was part of the order, ask the team to check the original order using the serial label and the purchaser's details described above.

If the accessory was something your contractor offered as part of their own package, your contractor is the right person to ask. Ella's Bubbles is not bound by promises made by dealers, retailers, distributors or contractors, so an arrangement made between you and your contractor stays with your contractor. The same is true for returns: if the tub was purchased through a dealer or retailer, that seller's return policy applies to the order, as noted in Can I return my walk-in tub? The 30-day return policy explained.

Who Handles What After Installation

Knowing who is responsible for each part makes any future question quick to resolve.

  • Parts. The Lifetime Limited Warranty is a parts warranty from Ella's Bubbles. After a claim is verified, the replacement part ships to the original installation address.
  • Labor. Labor is never covered by the Ella warranty. Labor is warranted by the independent contractor or installer who did the work, so keep your contractor's contact details with your tub paperwork.
  • Repairs. Ella does not send technicians. Parts ship under the warranty, and a local licensed plumber or electrician does the labor.
  • Technical support. Free lifetime technical support by phone, email and live video is available for every Ella tub.

Two conditions keep your coverage in place. The warranty stays with the first owner and the original installation address, so it becomes void if the ownership changes or the tub is relocated. Coverage also does not extend to former display models, or to tubs modified or repaired by anyone other than Ella's Bubbles. Is my walk-in tub warranty transferable if I move or sell my home? lists the common scenarios.

Common Questions

Is the warranty in my name or my contractor's name?
It should be in your name at your address. The Warranty Activation Form records you in the owner section, and your contractor or dealer appears as the place of purchase.
Does my contractor have to sign the warranty activation form?
Yes. The two-page form is signed by both you and your installer. It is submitted with a copy of the sales receipt and the installer's electrician license and insurance information.
What if my contractor never activated the warranty for me?
You can complete the form now, and the team can help you gather what is needed. If you are unsure whether it was already done, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support and the team can check what is on file.
Can Ella find my order if the contractor's name is on it?
Yes. The lookup runs on the tub and the original order, not on your name. Send a photo of the serial label, the installation address and what you know about the purchaser.
Who do I call if the installation work itself has a problem?
Contact the contractor who did the work, because labor is warranted by the installer and is never covered by the Ella warranty. For a part that has failed, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call (800) 480-6850.
How do I confirm an accessory that was meant to come with my tub?
Ask the team to check the original order, which records what was selected for your tub. If the accessory was part of your contractor's own offer, ask your contractor, since Ella's Bubbles is not bound by promises made by dealers or contractors.

About this guide. Answers in the Ella’s Bubbles Support Center are compiled from real conversations with tub owners, our technicians’ notes and the product documentation, then reviewed by our team. Tub models and options have evolved over the years, so a detail here may differ slightly from your exact tub. If something looks different on yours, send us your serial number and a specialist will confirm it for your model.
