This page explains the Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot Therapeutic Massage component diagram, the schematic Ella's Bubbles publishes for tubs that combine an air massage pump with two independent hydro pumps and push-button controls. The current copy is Air-Hydro-Independent-Foot-Massage-System.pdf in the 2024/06 uploads folder (revision 01-08-26), and the same drawing is also served as airhydro-hydro.pdf in the schematics folder. If your order lists Air + Hydro + Hydro Independent Foot Massage with push controls rather than a digital controller, this is your diagram. Below you will find the three uploads of this drawing, which tubs it lists, the seven numbered components, how the control box splits its two loads, how the seat and foot circuits are drawn, the electrical requirements printed at the top, and a note about the model list on the older 2021 copy.
Three Uploads of the Same Diagram
Ella's website carries this drawing under three file names, and all three show the same system.
- airhydro-hydro.pdf in the walk-in-tub schematics folder, revision 01-08-26.
- Air-Hydro-Independent-Foot-Massage-System.pdf in the 2024/06 uploads folder, revision 01-08-26. This is the copy to cite and the one linked at the bottom of this page.
- Air-Hydro-Independent-Foot-Massage-System-Schematics.pdf in the 2021/10 uploads folder, also revision 01-08-26, which differs only in the last entry of its model list (see the final section).
Which Tubs It Lists
The "Available On" box on the 2024/06 copy prints Royal, Monaco, Elite, Capri, Shak, Transfer60, Transfer 32, and XXL. "XXL" is the schematic's short form for the TransferXXL. That is a broad list: it covers the Elite, Capri, Royal, Monaco, Shak, Transfer32, Transfer60, and TransferXXL whenever they are ordered with the push-control version of the three-system package. Two-seat models and several others use a separate digital-controller diagram for the same combination of systems.
The Seven Numbered Components
The legend at the bottom of the sheet numbers seven components. They are reproduced below as printed.
| Number | Component | Printed details |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Air Massage System | Refer to Technical drawing for jet Count; Variable Speed Pump with Auto Purge; ON/OFF Push Button |
| 2 | Seat Hydro Massage System | Hydro Pump; Hydro Massage Air Flow Intensity Control; ON/OFF Push Button |
| 3 | Hydro Foot Massage System | Hydro Pump; Hydro Massage Air Flow Intensity Control; ON/OFF Button |
| 4 | Electronic Component Controller | Control Box |
| 5 | Led Light | Chromatherapy |
| 6 | In-Line Water Heater | Control Box |
| 7 | Ozone Generator | Ozone Sanitation System |
The legend sends you to your tub's technical drawing for the air jet count, because the number of air jets differs by model while the schematic is shared. The air pump is a variable speed pump, which is why its push button steps through speeds, and it carries the Auto Purge feature: about 20 minutes after you turn the air massage off, the pump starts on its own and runs for 120 seconds to blow leftover water out of the air lines. That after-bath burst of air is normal and stops by itself.
Control Box Loads: Air Pump and Ozone
The Electronic Component Controller, printed as the Control Box, is drawn with two outputs.
| Control box output | What it drives | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Load 1 | Air Pump | Air Out to Jets |
| Load 2 | Ozone Generator | Ozone Out to Hydro System |
So the control box is responsible for the air massage system and for ozone sanitation. The deck push controls for Hydro Massage, LED Light, and Air Massage are wired to it, and the LED chromatherapy light runs from it as well. Understanding this split helps when something is not working: an air pump that will not start and an ozone generator that seems idle share the same control box, while the hydro pumps do not. For help identifying the boxes and cords under the apron, see cords, control boxes, and connections after install.
Seat and Foot Circuits with Independent Dials
The two hydro systems are drawn as separate chains, each with its own Air Flow Hydro Massage Intensity Dial Control.
- Seat circuit: the Hydro Massage push control and the seat intensity dial start the Seat Jets Hydro Pump. On the 2024/06 copy the water path is drawn as Seat Jets Hydro Pump, Out, To Hydro Jets, In-Line Water Heater, Hydro Jets, so the heater is in line with the seat pump on this sheet.
- Foot circuit: the foot ON/OFF button and its own intensity dial start the separate Foot Jets Hydro Pump, which feeds the foot Hydro Jets through its own air hose and dial.
Because each hydro pump has its own button and dial, you can run a foot massage in a partly filled tub, run the seat jets alone, or run both with the air massage for the full three-system experience. The dials are air controls: opening a dial draws more air into that hydro stream for a stronger feel. Read more in independent foot massage explained.
Electrical Printed on the Diagram
The top of the sheet shows two wall outlets with identical requirements, and the air pump carries its own printed rating.
| Item | Printed requirement |
|---|---|
| #1 Wall Outlet | GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts |
| #2 Wall Outlet | GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts |
| Air Pump | 110-120 V, 4.5 A |
Component branches are marked "Electrical 110V", and the footer carries the disclaimer "Please View Specifications for Electrical Amperage (A), Voltage (V) and Wattage (W)." Your electrician should use this schematic for circuit count and GFCI protection and the spec sheet for your model for each pump's amperage; the electrical requirements by model page gathers that information.
The XXXL Misprint on the 2021 Copy
The older 2021/10 upload of this same diagram prints "XXXL" as the last model in its list. There is no XXXL model in the Ella's Bubbles lineup. That entry is a misprint of the TransferXXL, and the diagram itself is identical to the 2024/06 copy, which correctly prints "XXL". If the printed schematic that came with your TransferXXL shows "XXXL", the drawing still applies to your tub exactly as shown here, and the correct name for the model is TransferXXL.
