Can I Run Only the Foot Jets on the Transfer60 Without the Seat Jets?

Yes, you can run only the foot jets on a Transfer60, as long as the tub was built with a therapy package that includes Hydro Independent Foot Massage. Those packages give the foot and calf jets their own hydro pump, their own button and their own intensity dial, so the seat jets stay off while your feet get the full massage. The general rule for every Ella tub is explained in How Do I Use Only the Foot Massage Without Filling the Whole Tub?, and this page applies it to the Transfer60 specifically.

Which Transfer60 Packages Let the Foot Jets Run Alone

The current Transfer60 spec sheet lists seven jetting and therapy options. Two of them include the independent foot pump, and those are the two that allow a foot-only session. The table below uses the package names as the spec sheet prints them.

Transfer60 packageHydro pumpsFoot jets on their own? What it means for you
Hydro + Hydro Independent Foot Massage2 hydro massage pumps (5A + 7A), 2 intensity dialsYesFill only the footwell and press the foot button
Air + Hydro + Hydro Independent Foot MassageTwo independent hydro pumps plus the air massage pumpYesFoot spa on its own, or all three systems in a full bath

Hydro Massage + MicrobubbleOne hydro pumpNoFill past the highest jets before pressing the hydro button

What the differences mean is simple. With two hydro pumps, the seat circuit and the foot circuit are completely separate, so pressing the foot button starts only the foot pump. With one hydro pump, the seat and foot jets share that pump, and there is no way to send water to the feet alone. If you are still choosing a package and a daily foot spa matters to you, the two Independent Foot Massage rows are the ones to look at. Ella also publishes a combined diagram that lists the Transfer60 with air, hydro, independent foot massage and microbubbles together, described in the Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot + Microbubble schematic guide. Your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 can confirm which combination applies to your order.

What the Transfer60 Spec Sheet Prints for the Two-Pump Package

For the Hydro + Hydro Foot Massage package, the Transfer60 spec sheet prints 2 hydro massage pumps rated 5A and 7A, 2 intensity dial air controls, ozone sterilization at 0.04A, an on/off push control and an in-line water heater rated 6A and 650W. It prints 22 jets for this package, 16 seat jets and 6 foot jets. Jet counts on the Transfer family depend on the therapy package purchased, so use the figure printed for your own package, not a single number for the model.

The component diagram for this package shows the same split. The seat hydro massage system and the foot hydro massage system each have their own hydro pump, their own air flow intensity control and their own on/off button. You can see how the two circuits are drawn in the Hydro + Hydro Foot schematic guide, which lists the Transfer60 by name. On these two-pump configurations the in-line heater is attached to the foot massage pump, so it helps hold the water temperature while the foot jets run. It keeps warm water warm and never heats water from cold, so fill the footwell at the temperature you want to enjoy.

There is no diverter valve between the two sides. As the second video on this page explains, a single pump with a diverter takes power from one side to feed the other, while two separate pumps let you run full power to just your feet or full power to your whole body.

How to Run a Foot-Only Session on the Transfer60

  1. Confirm on your order that your package includes Hydro Independent Foot Massage. On the tub, look for a separate foot button with its own intensity dial.
  2. Close and latch the door, then close both drains.
  3. Fill the footwell to just below the seat and just above the calf jets, so every foot and calf jet is under water.
  4. Press the foot massage button. The seat jets stay off because they are on a different pump.
  5. Set the strength with the foot intensity dial. Turning it up lets more air into the jet stream, and turning it down reduces the air.
  6. Press the foot button again to turn the system off, then open the drains.

The first video on this page shows this same footwell fill and foot button routine on an Ella Ultimate, a tub that comes with independent foot massage as standard. The controls work the same way in principle: one button and one dial for the seat, one button and one dial for the feet.

For a full body massage, fill the tub 1 to 2 inches above the highest seat jet and then run both pumps. Never start either pump until its jets are under water. A pump that runs dry is permanently damaged, and that damage is not covered by the warranty.

If Your Transfer60 Has a Single Hydro Pump

On the Hydro Massage package the spec sheet prints one 7A pump with one intensity dial serving all 22 jets, 16 seat jets and 6 foot jets. On the Hydro + Air package it prints 11 hydro jets, 5 back jets and 6 foot jets, alongside 17 air jets. In both cases the foot jets share a pump with the upper jets. A footwell-only fill on these tubs would push water out of the exposed upper jets and risk running the pump dry, so the tub must be filled past the highest jets before the hydro button is pressed.

Independent foot massage cannot be added later. The second pump, its jets and its dial are built in at the factory, so the decision is made with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the order is placed. The feature itself is described in What Is Independent Foot Massage on a Walk-In Tub?

Planning and Care Notes for the Two-Pump Transfer60

  • Electrical. The Transfer60 spec sheet calls for dedicated GFCI protected electrical lines at 115/120V 60Hz. Triple packages that combine air, hydro and independent foot massage require two dedicated GFCI 120V 20A outlets, as shown in the Air + Hydro + Hydro Foot schematic guide. A local licensed electrician handles that work.
  • Access. The spec sheet lists a removable front apron with two access panels and one reversible end panel, which is how the equipment under the tub is reached for service.
  • Cleaning. Keep the monthly vinegar flush going for both circuits. Combine 2 cups of white vinegar with 2 cups of water, fill the tub to one inch above the highest jets, add the mixture, run the tub for 10 minutes, then drain. Run both the seat and the foot pump during the flush so each circuit is cleaned.
  • When one side does not start. Because the two systems are independent, one can run while the other does not. Note which button, pump and dial are affected, then open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support with your model, serial number and therapy package.

Common Questions

How do I know if my Transfer60 has independent foot massage?
Check your order for a package name that includes Hydro Independent Foot Massage. On the tub itself, look for a separate foot button with its own intensity dial next to the seat hydro controls. If you cannot tell, send a photo of the control cluster and your order details through ellasbubbles.com/support and the team confirms your package.
How high should the water be for a foot-only massage?
Fill the footwell to just below the seat and just above the calf jets. Every foot and calf jet needs to be covered before you press the foot button. The seat jets can stay dry because their pump is not running.
Can I run the seat jets and foot jets together?
Yes. Fill the tub 1 to 2 inches above the highest seat jet, then press both buttons to run both pumps for a full body massage. Each side keeps its own intensity dial, so you can set the seat and the feet to different strengths.
What happens if I start a pump with jets above the water?
Running a hydro pump dry damages it permanently, and that damage is not covered by the warranty. On a single-pump Transfer60, a footwell-only fill also pushes water out of the exposed upper jets. Always confirm the jets served by a pump are under water before you press its button.
Can independent foot massage be added to my Transfer60 later?
No. The second pump, its jets and its dial are built in at the factory. Choose the package with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the order is placed.
Does the heater work during a foot-only session on the Transfer60?
On tubs with independent foot massage, the in-line heater is attached to the foot massage pump, so it helps hold the water temperature while the foot jets run. It maintains warmth and does not heat water from cold. Fill the footwell with water at the temperature you want.
