When Will an Out-of-Stock Tub, Size or Part Be Back in Stock?

Ella does not publish restock dates, and this page does not state one. How soon an out-of-stock screen, panel, size or drain side can ship depends on the next shipment, on the model and options, and on current stock, so your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 confirms timing for your specific order. What you can count on is how a backorder is handled: the in-stock part of your order can be confirmed and shipped now and the backordered item follows as a pre-order, as Four-Fold Shower Screen on Backorder: How the Rest of Your Order Ships and How the Screen Follows describes for the screen.

Three Kinds of Items, Three Different Stock Answers

Out of stock means something different depending on what you are waiting for, and the right question to ask the team changes with it.

  • Stocked accessories. The four-fold tempered glass shower screen is stocked in limited quantities and goes on backorder from time to time. The LayDown bifold screen is stocked as a left-hand or a right-hand screen to match the drain side of the tub. These items wait for the next shipment to land, and a pre-order holds your place in line.
  • Walk-in tubs. Ella walk-in tubs are assembled and tested to order. A size, door side or drain side on a new order is built for that order rather than pulled from a shelf, and total time from paid invoice to delivery varies by model, options and stock. Ella does not publish a production or delivery timeframe for a tub and never promises a date, so the team confirms current timing for each order.
  • Clearance units. Each clearance tub is one specific unit identified by its serial number, so there is no next one in the same configuration. If the only unit in your size is the wrong hand, the team points you to the closest alternative or to a new order, as Confirming What a Clearance Tub Includes by Serial Number explains.

So when a size you want has been unavailable for months, the useful question is not when a shelf refills. It is what the current build and delivery picture looks like for that model with your options, and whether a clearance serial or a closely related model would serve the same bathroom.

Does a Backordered Item Hold Up the Rest of My Order?

No. The screen case shows how Ella separates the two. You are told at order time whether the screen is on hand. If it is not, the order is prepared two ways: the tub, the faucet and any in-stock accessories are confirmed and shipped, and the screen is listed as a pre-order. When the screens arrive, pre-orders are prioritized and the screen ships to you separately. If a shipment of screens runs late, the team lets you know and your pre-order stays on file. The one thing you need to do is confirm the invoice for the in-stock items so nothing waits on the screen unnecessarily.

When stock is very limited, four-fold screens may be offered only with the purchase of an Ella walk-in tub, and a screen on its own may need to wait for the next arrival. If you want a screen without a tub, ask first, and the team will tell you whether it can be placed now or should wait. Dealers who want to stock screens can ask the team about committing to a set quantity from an incoming shipment.

Left-Hand, Right-Hand and Drain Side

Some items are stocked by hand, which is why a left-drain version can be out while the right-drain version is on hand. The LayDown bifold screen is the clearest example: a left-hand screen goes with a left-drain LayDown and a right-hand screen goes with a right-drain LayDown, and each hand is stocked separately, so confirm availability for your drain side before you finalize your order. Folding Glass Shower Screen: Which Side It Mounts On, How Much Room It Takes Folded, and Confirming Stock explains how the hand is read from a product photo.

Seated walk-in tubs, including the 30 by 60 inch models, take the four-fold screen instead, and that screen is reversible for a left or right installation, so there is no handed stock to wait for. Do You Sell Folding Glass Shower Screens for a 60 Inch Walk-In Tub? covers which screen each tub family uses.

For the tub itself, remember that the door and the drains are on opposite sides. A right-side door tub has its drains on the left, and a left-side door tub has its drains on the right, with sides read as you face the tub. When you ask about a left-drain version, tell the team which side your existing drain is on and whether you need an inward or outward swing, and they will confirm the hand you need rather than the hand you think you need.

What to Have Ready When You Ask

  1. The model name, and the serial number if you are asking about an installed tub or a clearance unit.
  2. The door side and the drain side, described as you face the tub.
  3. A request that the team label each line of your order as in stock, built to order or pre-order, so you know which items are waiting on what.
  4. Confirmation that the in-stock items can ship now, and your approval of that invoice.
  5. A note that the backordered item is logged as a pre-order, and a request to be told if the shipment runs late.

For a clearance tub, also ask for the spec sheet, the written list of what that serial includes and the listing video, because listing photos sometimes show an accessory such as a glass screen that is not part of that unit. The team can add the accessory to your order if it is in stock, or place it as a pre-order if it is not.

When the Item Arrives

Inspect a pre-ordered item and its hardware on delivery, just as you would the tub. Keep all packaging, and report any shipping damage, including concealed damage found after the driver leaves, within 48 hours of receipt through ellasbubbles.com/support or by calling (800) 480-6850 so a claim can be filed. If you were waiting on a screen, the four-fold article above describes the inspection and the fit to expect, including that the screen covers roughly three quarters of a 60 inch seated tub, which is normal for that pairing and not a defect.

Common Questions

Will a backordered shower screen delay my whole tub order?
No. The tub, faucet and in-stock accessories are confirmed and shipped, and the screen is logged as a pre-order that ships separately when the next shipment arrives. Confirm the invoice for the in-stock items so they do not wait on the screen.
The size I want has been out for months. When will it be back?
Ella walk-in tubs are assembled and tested to order, and no production or delivery timeframe is published. Ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 for the current timing on that model with your options, and whether a clearance serial or a related model would fit your bathroom.
If the left-drain version is out of stock, how long until it ships?
For a handed accessory such as the LayDown bifold screen, each hand is stocked separately and a pre-order holds your place until the next shipment. For a tub, the drain side is part of a build to order, and the team confirms timing for your specific order rather than quoting a restock date.
Can I pre-order an out-of-stock screen without buying a tub?
When stock is very limited, four-fold screens may be offered only with the purchase of an Ella walk-in tub, so ask first. The team will tell you whether a screen on its own can be placed now or needs to wait for the next arrival.
Will I be told if the restock runs late?
Yes. If a shipment runs late, the team lets you know and your pre-order stays on file. Pre-orders are prioritized when stock lands, and the item ships to you separately with its own tracking.

About this guide. Answers in the Ella’s Bubbles Support Center are compiled from real conversations with tub owners, our technicians’ notes and the product documentation, then reviewed by our team. Tub models and options have evolved over the years, so a detail here may differ slightly from your exact tub. If something looks different on yours, send us your serial number and a specialist will confirm it for your model.
