What Is a Therapy Package on a Walk-In Tub?

A therapy package, sometimes called the jetting package or massage package, is the set of pumps and systems installed under an Ella walk-in tub at order time. The choices are Soaking, Hydro Massage, Air Massage, Air plus Hydro, Hydro plus Independent Foot Massage, Hydro plus Microbubble, and triple combinations on certain models. The package decides the jet count, the deck controls, whether the LED light and in-line heater are included, and how many dedicated electrical lines your electrician runs.

How It Works

The tub shell stays the same whichever package you choose; what changes is the equipment underneath. Hydro adds a water pump with the in-line heater and ozone, plus a push button and intensity dial. Air adds a three-speed blower with Auto Purge. Independent foot massage splits the jets between two pumps so the foot and calf jets can run on their own, and microbubble adds a dedicated pump, pressure vessel and agitator feeding one jet. The LED chromatherapy light comes with every dual and triple package but not with hydro alone. Because jets follow the package rather than the model, spec sheets print jet and electrical lines per package; a Transfer sheet lists 22 hydro jets for the Hydro package and 11 hydro plus 17 air jets for Hydro plus Air, and both are correct. Which Ella Models Have It

Every Ella tub is built with a package, even a soaker, and most single-seat models offer the full menu. The ShaK and Big4One ship with the digital-controller Air plus dual Hydro package included, with microbubble optional, and the Deluxe ships as a fixed Air plus Hydro package. The Front Entry has no Hydro plus Foot option and does not offer the LED light with any package. The LayDown tubs take one therapy at a time and have no LED. What to Know as an Owner

The package cannot be changed after the tub is built, so settle it with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before production. If a hydro massage feels too strong, turn the intensity dial down; that dial exists to soften it. Care follows the package: hydro tubs get the monthly vinegar flush and a pump inlet cover check, air systems self-clear with Auto Purge, and a soaker needs neither. Keep the schematic that shipped with your tub; it names the package and its circuits.
