The tub itself stays the same whichever therapy package you choose. What changes is the equipment installed underneath it: which pumps, whether the in-line heater and ozone generator are included, whether the LED light comes along, how many intensity dials sit on the deck, and which controls you press. This cheat sheet lays all of that out package by package so you can see at a glance what each one includes before you talk with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850.
What Each Package Includes
| Package | Pumps and equipment under the tub | Deck controls | Included extras |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soaking | No jets, no pumps and no electrical equipment. The only electrical item a soaker can have is the optional heated seat and backrest. | None. A soaker has no therapy controls at all. | The same door, seat, faucet, hand shower and drain hardware as the jetted version of the model. |
| Hydro Massage | One water pump, the in-line water heater and the ozone sterilization generator. | One push button for the pump plus one intensity control dial. | In-line heater and ozone are part of the hydro package. The LED light is not included with hydro alone. |
| Air Massage | One three-speed air blower with Auto Purge. | One push button that cycles high, medium, low and off. | Auto Purge. No in-line heater and no ozone, because both belong to the hydro system. Offered on its own on the LayDown tubs. |
| Hydro plus Air | Water pump with in-line heater and ozone, plus the three-speed air blower with Auto Purge. | Push buttons for each system and an intensity dial, or the digital controller (see below). | LED chromatherapy light included as a dual package. |
| Hydro plus Independent Foot Massage | Two water pumps: one for the upper seat jets and one for the foot and calf jets. The in-line heater sits on the foot loop. Ozone included. | Two push buttons and two intensity dials, one per pump. | LED light included. The jets are split between the two pumps rather than added, so you gain a second pump, not extra jets. |
| Hydro plus Microbubble | Water pump with in-line heater and ozone, plus a dedicated 1 HP microbubble pump, a pressure vessel and an agitator valve feeding one microbubble jet. | Push buttons for each system and an intensity dial. | LED light included. The microbubble circuit needs a second dedicated electrical line. |
| Triple packages (Hydro plus Air plus Microbubble, or Hydro plus Air plus Foot) | Everything from the two packages combined, with each system on its own pump. | Push buttons or the digital controller, depending on the model. | LED light included. Offered only on certain models. |
The heated seat and backrest is never bundled into a therapy package. It is a separate option on most models, with its own keypad and its own 20 minute auto-off, and it can be added to soakers and jetted tubs alike. Read more in how the heated seat and backrest works.

The In-Line Heater and Ozone Travel with Hydro
Two of the most asked-about items, the in-line water heater and ozone sterilization, are part of the hydro massage system, not separate add-ons. If your package includes hydro, you have both. If it does not, you have neither, which is why an air-only or soaking tub has no ozone. The in-line heater maintains the temperature of the water you drew from the faucet while the hydro pump runs; it does not heat cold water. On a Hydro plus Independent Foot package it is plumbed into the foot pump loop. See what the in-line heater does and does not do.
The LED Light Rule
The LED chromatherapy light is included with every dual and triple package: Hydro plus Air, Hydro plus Independent Foot, Hydro plus Microbubble and the triple combinations. It is not included with the hydro-only package or with a soaker. It runs on its own transformer and control, separate from the pump circuits. Two model exceptions: the Front Entry does not offer the LED with any package, and the LayDown tubs do not have it.
Push Buttons or the Digital Controller
Push buttons are the standard control on Ella tubs. Each button is pneumatic, and hydro packages add an intensity control dial beside the button. The digital controller is a touchpad that replaces the push buttons and runs the air, the hydro and the LED from one pad.
- Digital controller standard: the ShaK and Big4One, which ship with the digital-controller air plus dual hydro package; the two-seat family (Tub4Two, Companion, Escape, Big4Two), where the digital controller runs the air, seat hydro and LED; and the Lounger with its Air plus Hydro package.
- Digital controller optional: other models ordered with an Air plus Hydro combination, such as the Ultimate or the Monaco.
- Push buttons: every other package. The digital controller is offered with Air plus Hydro combinations, so hydro-only, foot and microbubble packages without air use push buttons.
If you are unsure which controls your order includes, ask your Ella dealer or the team before the tub ships. The two styles are compared in push button controls vs the digital touchpad.
This overview shows the jetting packages and accessory choices in order: air and hydro packages, the in-line heater and intensity dial, Auto Purge, ozone, independent foot massage, LED chromatherapy, then the heated seat and the choice between digital and push button controls.
What Each Package Means for Your Electrical
Each pump has its own cord that plugs into a dedicated GFCI outlet inside the equipment compartment, and the number of dedicated circuits your electrician must run depends on the package. As a rule of thumb, a hydro-only or Hydro plus Air package runs on one dedicated line; Hydro plus Microbubble, Air plus Hydro plus Foot, and packages that add microbubble or the heated seat to a single-seat tub need two; and the ShaK and Big4One with microbubble added, along with a fully loaded two-seat tub, need three. A soaker with only the heated seat needs a 15 amp line, since there are no pumps. The model-by-model table is in electrical requirements by model.
The LayDown Exception
The LayDown tubs take one therapy at a time: air massage with its three-speed pump and Auto Purge, hydro massage with the pump, intensity dial, in-line heater and ozone, or microbubble delivered through a single jet and switched by an air switch. A soaking LayDown has no therapy controls at all. Details are in the LayDown walk-in tubs.
