What the Hydro Massage Schematic Shows: One Pump, the In-Line Heater in the Jet Loop, Ozone and One Dedicated Line

This page explains the Hydro Therapeutic Massage component diagram, the one-page schematic Ella's Bubbles publishes for the hydro-only therapy package. It is drawn from the 2023/03 upload hydromassagepdf_compressed.pdf (revision 01-16-26) and its older 2021/10 sibling hydrotherapy-massage-system-schematics.pdf (revision 10-16-23). Which Tubs This Diagram Lists

The newer copy prints "Available With: Stainless Steel, Outward Door, Lay-Down". Those are door families rather than individual model names: the stainless steel inward-swing door family, the outward-swing door family, and the LayDown tubs. If your tub is from one of those families and your order shows the Hydro Massage package on its own (no air system, no foot pump, no microbubbles), this is your diagram. The Standard and Flow have their own hydro-only diagram, hydro-stand-flow.pdf, which lists the hydro pump and in-line water heater but no ozone generator; it is covered on the Standard, Flow and Zen hydro schematics page.

The Three Numbered Components

The legend at the bottom of the page names three components, printed as follows:

That is the whole package: one pump, one sanitizer, one heater. There is no separate electronic component controller on this diagram, which is why the hydro-only package is the easiest one to trace when something is not running.

Following the Water: Pump, Relay, Heater, Jets

The arrows on the page follow this order:

  1. The Push Control (ON/OFF) and the Relay Switch start the Hydro Pump.
  2. The Hydro Pump sends water "Out" toward "To Hydro Jets".
  3. On the way, the water passes through the In-Line Water Heater.
  4. From the heater, the water goes "Out" again to the Hydro Jets and returns to the tub.

Because the heater sits inside the jet loop, it only works on water that the pump is moving. It maintains the temperature of the bath while the hydro massage is running; it does not heat a still tub. That distinction matters when someone asks why the water cooled after the jets were switched off, and it is covered in more depth on the in-line water heater page.

The Intensity Dial Is an Air Control

The diagram draws an "Air Hose" between the Air Flow Hydro Massage Intensity Dial Control and the pump side of the loop. The dial is not wired to anything. Turning it lets more or less air into the water stream, which changes how forceful the jets feel. The practical consequence is simple: if the pump runs but the dial seems to do nothing, the first thing to look at is the air hose and its connection at the pump, not the wiring. Ozone into the Hydro Loop

Component 2, the Ozone Generator, has a single arrow labeled "Ozone Out to Hydro System". It feeds ozone into the hydro loop while the hydro massage runs. No separate switch for it appears on this diagram, so ozone sanitation is part of running the hydro massage rather than a feature you turn on. Electrical Requirement Printed on the Diagram

The outlet block prints one outlet: "Wall Outlet, GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts". The powered components carry "Electrical 110V" tags. The page closes with the standard disclaimer, "Please View Specifications for Electrical Amperage (A), Voltage (V) and Wattage (W)", so the amp and watt figures for the pump and heater come from your model's spec sheet, not from this drawing.

Two Uploads of the Same Diagram

The 2021/10 file hydrotherapy-massage-system-schematics.pdf (revision 10-16-23) shows the same three components, the same loop, the same air hose dial and the same single 20 AMP outlet, but prints no model list. The 2023/03 file hydromassagepdf_compressed.pdf (revision 01-16-26) adds "Available With: Stainless Steel, Outward Door, Lay-Down". If you have a printout of either one, you are looking at the same system; the newer file is the one to cite.

What to Check When the Hydro System Is Quiet

The diagram gives you a natural order for checking a hydro massage that will not start, working from the wall inward:

  1. Confirm the dedicated GFCI outlet has power and the GFCI has not tripped.
  2. Confirm the tub is filled above the jets, since the hydro pump moves water and must never run before water covers all the jets.
  3. Press the ON/OFF push control once and listen for the relay and pump.
  4. If the pump runs but the jets feel weak, turn the intensity dial and check the air hose behind it.
  5. If the pump runs but the water does not stay warm, the in-line water heater in the loop is the component to describe when you contact the team.

Common Questions

How many electrical lines does the hydro-only package need?
The diagram prints one Wall Outlet, GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts. The pump, in-line heater and ozone generator all run from that single line. Your spec sheet gives the amp and watt figures for each component.
Does the in-line water heater warm the tub while it is filling?
No. The heater sits in the jet loop between the pump and the jets, so it only treats water the pump is circulating. It maintains bath temperature while the hydro massage runs rather than heating a still tub.
Why does the intensity dial not change anything even though the pump is running?
The dial is an air control connected by an air hose, not an electrical control. When the pump runs and the dial has no effect, the air hose and its connection at the pump are the first things to check.
Is there a switch for the ozone generator?
Not on this diagram. The ozone generator has one arrow, "Ozone Out to Hydro System", and works with the hydro massage automatically. There is nothing to turn on separately.
Which tubs does this hydro schematic cover?
The current copy prints "Available With: Stainless Steel, Outward Door, Lay-Down", meaning the stainless steel inward door family, the outward-swing door family and the LayDown tubs ordered with the hydro-only package. The Standard and Flow use a separate hydro-only diagram.
Is my 2021 copy of the hydro schematic with no model list outdated?
The system is the same. The 2021/10 copy (revision 10-16-23) and the 2023/03 copy (revision 01-16-26) show identical components and connections; the newer one simply adds the "Available With" list.
