Print this page and tick each line with your installer before they leave. The lines come from the water test in the owner's manual and the 16 checks on the warranty activation form. The reasons behind each check are in what your installer should test before leaving.
Before the Walls Close: The Water Test
Required before the walls close; the full procedure is in the pre-installation water test.
- ☐ Tub on a flat, level surface where it can drain
- ☐ Door seal wiped clean with a clean rag and warm water
- ☐ Drains taped closed
- ☐ Filled to at least 3 inches above the highest jet (to the bottom of the grab bar if no jets)
- ☐ Water left standing 30 minutes; all plumbing and seals inspected
- ☐ All electrical components run another 30 minutes on rated three-prong cords in separate outlets; unions at pump and heater inspected again
The 16 Activation-Form Checks
- ☐ Tub level in all directions, all support legs touching the ground
- ☐ Installed by a licensed electrician
- ☐ Installed on a dedicated GFCI circuit breaker
- ☐ Frame of the tub properly grounded
- ☐ Door seal cleaned with rubbing alcohol
- ☐ Temperature control valve operated on both hot and cold (where your faucet package includes one)
- ☐ Both diverters function properly
- ☐ Hand shower works on all settings without leaking
- ☐ All supply lines checked for leaks with both diverters on
- ☐ Drains open and close properly
- ☐ Locking nut tightened on both stoppers
- ☐ Door seal watertight after the tub has been filled for at least 20 minutes
- ☐ Hydro and air pumps run at least 20 minutes; all connections to pumps and jets watertight
- ☐ Chromatherapy light and ozone sterilization working (ozone alone makes a light hum, which is normal)
- ☐ All drain fittings checked for leaks while the tub is draining
- ☐ Unit installed with access to both plumbing and electrical connections
Documents to Collect Before the Installer Leaves
- ☐ Activation form, both pages, signed by you and by the installer
- ☐ Installer's electrician license and insurance information
- ☐ Copy of your sales receipt from where you purchased
- ☐ Model and serial number from the label inside the front apron access panel (on many models, the panel next to the door)
- ☐ Photos of the dry floor under the door during the 20 minute fill, the breaker label and the frame ground
Submit the form promptly; see how to activate your warranty and what the activation form is.
Here an installer fills the tub outside and runs all pumps to check for leaks, levels it on the legs, then fills and runs everything again after connection before replacing the panels.
What to Do If a Line Cannot Be Ticked
Leveling comes first: if the door does not close smoothly, re-check every leg with the leveling guide. A weeping union is normally an over-tightened or shifted O-ring, not a defect; re-seat the O-ring and reassemble snugly. For anything you cannot resolve or verify, open a request at ellasbubbles.com/support with photos and the serial number, or call your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850. Your first days as an owner are in the new owner first week checklist.
