Before You Leave: Clean, Drain, Door Open

Water and Power Decisions to Discuss with Your Plumber

Every installation should have accessible shut-off valves close to the tub. What to do with them while away depends on your home and how long you will be gone.

If the Home Will Be Unheated: Ask the Team First

When You Return: GFCI, Control Box LED, Seal, Flush

  • u2610 Reopen any valves and switch on any breakers you turned off.
  • u2610 Press Test, then Reset on the GFCI. If it will not hold, leave the power off and call a licensed electrician.
  • u2610 Look for the steady green LED on the blue control box. If it stays dark on a live outlet, stop and open a ticket.
  • u2610 Confirm the air hose behind each push button is seated at both ends.
  • u2610 If the seal took a set, squeeze it gently and pull it away from the frame, then clean it with rubbing alcohol.
  • u2610 Fill the tub, close the door and let the water stand 20 minutes to confirm the seal is watertight.

Common Questions

No. There is no published procedure, so we do not describe draining lines, blowing them out or adding antifreeze. For an unheated home or a long idle period, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support with your model before you leave.
Should I close the water shut-off valves while I am away?
That is your plumber's call, based on your home and the length of the absence. Ella's published guidance is only that the tub should have accessible shut-off valves close to the tub. Note what you decide so you remember to reopen them.
Is it a problem if the jets ran cloudy when I came home?
It is not usually a problem if the jets ran cloudy when you came home. An idle walk-in tub can take a second vinegar flush to run clear, which is normal. If debris continues to appear after two or three flushes, you should open a ticket with a photo for further assistance.
What should I do if the green light on the control box is off when I get back?
If the green LED light on the blue control box is off when you return, first reopen any valves and switch on any breakers you turned off. Then, press Test and then Reset on the GFCI. Confirm that the control box's cord is plugged into a live outlet. If the outlet is live and the steady green LED stays dark, you should open a ticket with your serial number and a photo of the control box.
