Most sit-down Ella tubs can be ordered as soakers, the tubs come in white, the two-seat models differ mainly by door type and size, and every model except the Front Entry can be built with the door on the left or the right. Those are the short answers to the questions we hear most often when someone is narrowing the list. Here are thirteen of them with the detail behind each, and a link to the profile article for the model in question.

Jets and No Jets

Do you make walk-in tubs without jets? Yes. Most of our sit-down tubs can be ordered as soakers with no jets, no pumps and no electrical work. The exceptions are the hydro-only platforms (Standard, Standard60, Zen, Zen60 and Flow), the Big4One and ShaK, which ship with their digital jetting package, and the two-seat tubs. Do you have a big walk-in tub without jets? Yes. The two large options the team points to are the LayDown 32x72 and the TransferXXL 36x55 in its soaker configuration. The Big4One and ShaK are jetted only; you may use bath salts in them as long as the jets stay off and you drain afterward. See Ella TransferXXL 36x55.

Is there a two-person tub without jets? No. The Tub4Two, Companion, Escape and Big4Two are built around the digital controller and always include at least one massage system. If a two-seat soaker matters to you, ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before assuming one can be built.

Colors

Do your tubs come in biscuit, linen or off-white? No. Ella tubs are white. Off-white was offered in the past and was dropped for lack of interest, and the only off-white units mentioned recently were a few leftover Transfer tubs. See Tub Colors and Hardware Finishes.

The Two-Seat Family

What is the main difference between the Big4Two and the Tub4Two? Size. The Big4Two is 36 by 80 inches with an outward-swing U-shape door; the Tub4Two is 32 by 60 inches, also with the outward U-shape door, and it fits a standard 60 inch opening. Both use the 3-latch gear and shaft mechanism. Profiles: Big4Two and Tub4Two.

Which way does the Companion door open? Inward. The Companion (32 by 60) has the brushed stainless steel door with frosted glass, which lifts out for cleaning, and it only comes that way. If you want a white outward door in the same footprint, that tub is the Tub4Two. See Ella Companion 32x60.

Does the Escape come with an outward door? No. The Escape (36 by 72) is inward-swing only, with the removable stainless steel and frosted glass door, and the team has confirmed it cannot be built to swing out. See Ella Escape 36x72.

Which two-seat tub has a grab bar? The Companion spec lists a deck-mounted grab bar, and the Big4Two and Escape specs list a wall-mounted grab bar. The Tub4Two does not ship with a grab bar, which the team has confirmed to owners who went looking for one in the packet. The comparison table is in Choosing a Two-Seat Walk-In Tub.

The two-seat tour shows the door difference in motion: the Big4Two and Tub4Two with the frameless U-shape outward door and 3-latch lock, and the Companion with the custom brushed stainless steel door that lifts out for cleaning. It also covers what the family shares, dual 2 inch drains, three-speed air massage with auto purge, hydro massage with the in-line heater, ozone sterilization, your choice of the 5-piece or 2-piece fast-fill faucet, and the optional microbubble therapy, plus the Big4Two's independent foot massage.

Door Direction, Seat Width and Faucet Side

Is the Royal in-swing only? Yes. The Royal is a stainless steel inward-swing door tub and there is no outward version. If you want a wide seat with an outward door, the team points to the Monaco. See Ella Royal 32x52.

What is the difference between the Royal and the Ultimate? Both are stainless steel inward-swing door tubs, but they are built for different rooms. The Royal is 32 by 52 nominal (31.5 by 52 by 35 actual) with a 23 inch seat, the widest seat in the stainless family, and it is the only stainless-door model offering the triple Hydro plus Air plus Microbubble package; it includes a 7 inch extension panel for a 60 inch alcove. The Ultimate is 30 by 60 nominal (29 5/8 by 59 1/2 by 35 3/4 actual) with a 21 inch seat, a full-length tub that fills a 60 inch alcove on its own, so no extension panel is included. Can I choose the faucet side on the Front Entry? Yes. The Front Entry is the one model whose door is on the end of the tub rather than the side, so it is not ordered left or right hand like the others. Instead you choose which side the faucet goes on. The Front Entry video shows why it suits a small bathroom: the end door, removable side panels that let it sit almost anywhere, an oversized seat for larger bathers, and its single oversized 2 inch drain with an emergency pull chain. You will also see the 2-piece fast-fill faucet in chrome or brushed nickel and the U-shape door's 3-latch gear and shaft seal.

Still Current, and One Definition

Is the Capri still sold? Yes. The Capri and the Front Entry are both current models. See Ella Capri 30x52.

What is the difference between the Lounger and a lay-down tub? The Lounger is a walk-in tub: it has a door and a seat, with nearly 51 inches of interior length in its 27 by 59 inch shell so a taller bather can stretch out.
