What the Front Entry Air + Hydro Schematic Shows: Five Components on One Dedicated Line

This page explains the Air + Hydro Therapeutic Massage component diagram printed specifically for the Ella Front Entry walk-in tub. It comes from the official schematic air-hydro-front-entry.pdf, revision dated 02-05-26, which prints "Available With: Front Entry." We also pull the matching numbers from the Front Entry spec sheet so you can see how the diagram's five components line up with the jets, pumps, and heater that come with the tub. If you are planning the electrical rough-in or tracing what plugs into what behind the access panels, this is the drawing to have open.

A Diagram Printed for One Model

Most Ella therapy schematics list several door families at once. This one is different: it was drawn for the Front Entry alone, the outward-swing tub whose door is at the front end rather than the side. That matters because the Front Entry has its own jet layout and its own package list, and because its spec sheet prints "LED Chromatherapy Light NOT Included" for every package. The drawing reflects that: there is no LED component on it. For the tub itself, see the Front Entry walk-in tub profile.

The Five Numbered Components

The legend along the bottom of the drawing numbers five components. The printed labels are repeated here.

NumberComponentPrinted details
1Air Massage SystemRefer to technical drawing for jet count; Variable Speed Pump with Auto Purge; ON/OFF Push Button
2Hydro Massage SystemHydro Pump; Hydro Massage Air Flow Intensity Control; ON/OFF Push Button
3Electronic Component ControllerControl Box
4Ozone GeneratorOzone Sanitation System; Ozone Out to Hydro System
5In-Line Water HeaterControl Box

The Air + Hydro diagram for the stainless steel and outward door families numbers six components. The only item missing here is the LED light, which matches the Front Entry spec sheet.

Plumbing and Air Paths

The hydro pump draws water from the tub and sends it "Out to Hydro Jets," through the In-Line Water Heater, and on to the jets. A Relay Switch is drawn on the heater loop, and the heater runs only while the hydro pump is running, so it maintains the temperature of circulating water rather than heating a still tub. The Ozone Generator is drawn with the arrow "Ozone Out to Hydro System," injecting ozone into that same hydro loop for sanitation. On the air side, the Air Pump pushes air through an Air Hose labeled "Air Out to Jets" to the separate air jets. A second Air Hose links the intensity dial to the hydro system, which is how turning the dial changes the feel of the hydro massage. The air pump is a variable speed blower with Auto Purge: about 20 minutes after you turn the air massage off, it starts automatically and runs for 120 seconds to blow leftover water out of the air lines. Details are in how the auto purge air system works.

Controls at the Tub

The deck controls shown are push controls for the Air Massage and the Hydro Massage plus the Hydro Massage Air Flow Intensity Dial Control. Each push control is a simple On/Off button wired to the control box; the dial is an air control on an air hose. Press the air button once for high speed, twice for medium, three times for low, and a fourth time to turn it off. There is no LED push control on this drawing. If you want a feel for what each therapy does, read hydro massage vs air massage controls.

Electrical Printed on the Diagram

The diagram prints a single wall outlet: GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts. The control box, hydro pump, in-line heater, and ozone generator are each marked Electrical 110V, and the Air Pump is rated 110-120 V, 4.5 A. The page carries the standard disclaimer, "Please View Specifications for Electrical Amperage (A), Voltage (V) and Wattage (W)." For how this compares with other models and packages, see electrical requirements by model.

What the Front Entry Spec Sheet Adds

The diagram tells you to refer to the technical drawing for jet counts and to the specifications for amperage. The Front Entry spec sheet supplies those numbers.

SystemPrinted specification
Hydro MassagePump 7A; Intensity Dial Air Control; Ozone Sterilization 0.04A; 13 jets (11 Seat Jets, 2 Calf Jets); On/Off Push Control; In-line Water Heater 6A 650W
Air MassagePump 4.5A 500W; 3 Speed Pump; Auto-purge; 16 jets (10 Seat Jets, 6 Foot Jets); On/Off push control
ChromatherapyLED light not included with any Front Entry package

The spec sheet also lists a Digital Controller and a Heated Seat and Backrest as optional features, and it notes that the AMP value for each pump may change based on availability, so verify with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the electrician sizes the circuit. Electrical fixtures connect to a dedicated GFCI protected outlet or a GFCI protected circuit breaker at 110/120V, 60Hz.

Common Questions

Why does the Front Entry diagram show only five components instead of six?
The sixth component on other Air + Hydro diagrams is the LED chromatherapy light. The Front Entry spec sheet prints "LED Chromatherapy Light NOT Included" for every package, so the light is not drawn on this model's schematic.
How many outlets does the Front Entry Air + Hydro package need?
One. The diagram prints a single wall outlet, GFCI Protected, Dedicated Line, 20 AMP, 120 Volts, serving the control box, both pumps, the heater, and the ozone generator. The Front Entry Hydro + Microbubble package is the one that uses two lines.
How many jets does the Front Entry have with this package?
The spec sheet lists 13 hydro jets (11 seat and 2 calf) and 16 air jets (10 seat and 6 foot). The diagram itself does not print jet counts and refers you to the technical drawing.
Is the noise after my bath a problem?
No. The air pump has an Auto Purge that starts about 20 minutes after you turn the air massage off and runs for 120 seconds to clear water from the air lines. It stops on its own and cannot be interrupted.
Does the in-line heater heat the water while the tub is filling?
No. It sits between the hydro pump and the hydro jets and runs only while the hydro massage is running. Fill the tub at your preferred temperature from the faucet, then let the heater maintain it during the massage.
Can the Front Entry Air + Hydro package come with a digital controller?
The spec sheet lists a Digital Controller as an optional feature. This particular diagram shows the push-control configuration. Ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 which configuration applies to your order.
