What is the Ella Transfer60 30x60 wheelchair transfer walk-in tub?

Updated September 2026

The Ella Transfer60 is the 30 by 60 inch nominal member of Ella's wheelchair transfer family, built around the extra-wide L-shape outward-swing door that lets a bather move onto the seat while seated. The current spec sheet lists an actual size of 29.5 by 60 by 40 inches, a 22 inch wide seat, and a door that opens 172 degrees on a 2-latch gear and shaft mechanism. It is the longest model in Wheelchair Transfer Tubs Compared: Transfer26, Transfer30, Transfer32, Transfer60, and TransferXXL.

Size, Seat and Capacity

The 60 inch length is the nominal size from product pages and brochures, so always plan from the spec sheet figures below.

  • Actual size 29.5 by 60 by 40 inches; shipping size 34 by 62 by 50 inches.
  • Net weight 220 pounds; shipping weight 300 pounds.
  • Seat 22 inches wide and 18 1/2 inches long, 17 inches above the footwell floor, with 17 5/8 inches from the seat to the top of the overflow.
  • Interior length 50 3/4 inches.
  • Water capacity 90 gallons unoccupied and 55 to 75 gallons occupied.

The shell is gloss white acrylic reinforced with fiberglass gelcoat on a stainless steel frame with adjustable leveling legs. A removable front apron with two access panels, one reversible end panel, and chrome deck and wall-mounted grab bars are included, along with a low threshold, a textured floor and a soft-grip door handle. Every Ella model is listed side by side in Walk-in tub dimensions by model: exterior sizes, seat widths, and door types.

The L-Shape Transfer Door

The lower door line of the L-shape door is the reason the Transfer family exists. A bather can transfer onto the seat from a wheelchair or walker while seated, rather than stepping through a taller opening. The door swings outward a full 172 degrees and is designed to fit over a toilet. Its two-latch gear and shaft lock is worked by the handle on the front of the door, which turns clockwise to close and drives the pins into the frame for a tight, leak-proof seal. The video shows the L-shape door tub in use, including the independent foot massage option, the dual drains and the optional heated seat. Door side is chosen at order time, and the drains sit on the opposite side of the tub from the door. If you are weighing this tub against the narrower U-shape door model of the same length, read Lounger Versus Transfer60: A Side-by-Side Comparison From the Spec Sheets.

Therapy Packages and Jet Counts

There is no single jet count for the Transfer60, because the jets depend on the therapy package you choose, and the Transfer60 is offered with triple packages as well as single and dual ones. The packages are Air plus Hydro, Air plus Hydro plus Hydro Independent Foot Massage, Air plus Hydro plus Microbubble, Hydro plus Hydro Independent Foot Massage, Hydro Massage plus Microbubble, Hydro Massage, and Soaking. As printed on the current spec sheet:

  • Hydro Massage: 7 amp pump, 22 hydro jets (16 seat, 6 foot), intensity dial air control, on/off push control, 6 amp 650 watt in-line water heater and ozone sterilization.
  • Hydro plus Hydro Independent Foot Massage: two hydro pumps at 5 and 7 amps with two intensity dials and the same 22 jets, so you can run a foot massage without filling the whole tub.
  • Hydro plus Air: 4.5 amp 500 watt three-speed air pump with 17 air jets (11 seat, 6 foot) and 11 hydro jets (5 back, 6 foot), with Auto Purge starting 20 minutes after the air pump shuts down.
  • Microbubble Therapy: 1 HP 7.3 amp pump with a pressure vessel, agitator valve and on/off push control.

The LED chromatherapy light, rated 0.5 amp with an on/off push control, is included with dual or triple packages and not with Hydro Massage alone. On the air push control the first press is high, the second medium, the third low, and the fourth turns the system off. A heated seat and backrest and a digital controller are optional. Amp values may change based on availability, so verify before purchase. The brochure diagram that labels every control and jet group is explained in Where Everything Is on a Transfer Tub: The Brochure Callout Diagram Explained.

Faucet, Drains and Electrical

The Transfer60 ships with the 5-piece faucet, rated up to 18 GPM at 60 PSI in ideal in-home plumbing, with two 5 foot 3/4 inch supply lines and a pull-out chrome hand shower on a 5 foot retractable braided hose. Dual Drain Technology means two 2 inch 4-port PVC floor drains with two overflows and two chrome extended-handle openers, connected directly to the house drain for fast gravity draining. Each pump needs a dedicated GFCI protected 115/120 volt 60 Hz line. A four-fold glass screen, a shower column with an extendable hand shower, and a rain shower head are available accessories.

How many jets does the Transfer60 have in total?
