A walk-in tub sized for a mobile home is ordered through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, and the models Ella's team points mobile home owners toward are its compact tubs: the Front Entry and the Mobile for single-wide mobile homes, and the Flow for mobile homes and trailers. The smallest of them is the Mobile, described in Ella Mobile 26x45: The Smallest Walk-In Tub, at 45 inches long, 26 inches wide and 39 1/4 inches high. This page compares the three compact models, lists the therapy packages each one offers, and walks through the doorway, floor, water and electrical checks that decide whether a tub will fit your home.
The Compact Models Sized for a Mobile Home
The Mobile takes its name from its compact size rather than from mobile homes alone, but it and the Front Entry are the two tubs Ella's team recommends for single-wide mobile homes. The Flow is the third compact choice. The figures below are published actual sizes, and a mobile home bathroom should be planned around them rather than around a nominal name.
| Model | Actual size | Seat width | Door | Unoccupied water | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile | 45 inches long by 26 inches wide by 39 1/4 inches high | 19 to 20 inches | Outward-swing U-shape, opens 165 degrees | not listed | The narrowest doorway, or a 45 inch space or corner |
| Front Entry | 32 inches wide by 40 inches long by 40 inches high | 25 inches on the spec sheet, 24 inches in the video | Outward-swing U-shape on the end; no left or right version | 70 gallons (25 to 55 occupied) | A space only 40 inches long, entered from the end |
| Flow | 28 inches wide by 48 inches long by 36.5 inches high | not listed | not listed | 65 gallons | Passing a 28 inch doorway, since the shell is 27 3/4 inches wide |
What the differences mean: the Mobile is the tub for a narrow passage, the Front Entry is the tub for a short space, and the Flow sits between them with a 48 inch length that still clears a 28 inch door. The Front Entry's door is on its 32 inch end, so it slides into a spot only 40 inches long and is the one Ella model not ordered as left-hand or right-hand. The Mobile's 26 inch shell is the narrowest in the line, with a step-in of about 3 3/4 inches. Neither the Mobile nor the Front Entry offers an extension panel, so both suit a corner or a short space rather than a 60 inch alcove, and the Front Entry ships with two removable side panels for corner or single-wall placement.
Getting the Tub Through the Door and into the Room
In a mobile home the doorway is usually harder than the bathroom, so measure the path first. Check every exterior and interior door width and every hallway along the way, counting corners and turns, as the choosing video in Which Ella walk-in tub is right for me? advises. The passage must be wider than the actual width of the tub you choose. For a 25 inch opening the team names the Mobile as the only option, and only with the door frame removed so the 26 inch shell can pass. The Flow is built to pass a 28 inch doorway.
Once inside, the outward-swinging doors need room. The Mobile's U-shape door swings outward 165 degrees, so leave clear floor in front of the tub; Ella's Capri tour puts the clear floor an outward door needs at about 21 inches. The Front Entry's door swings outward from the end instead. Can a walk-in tub fit in a small bathroom, and which models work? covers door swing and floor space in tight rooms, and if clearance is close, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support with your measurements before ordering.
The Floor, the Water Supply and the Electrical Line
Ella's owner's manuals require a level subfloor that can support the tub, the bather and the water together and that meets local code. Water weighs about 8.34 pounds per gallon, so it is the largest part of the load. The Flow, at 210 pounds net and 65 gallons unoccupied, works out to roughly 752 pounds for tub plus water before the bather, and the Front Entry is listed at 200 pounds net and 70 gallons. A walk-in tub is a concentrated load on a small footprint, so the 40 pounds per square foot residential figure in Table R301.5 of the International Residential Code is only where an inspector starts. In a mobile home, a structural check by your contractor or an engineer gives the definitive answer, because the team cannot judge a specific floor remotely. Can an Ella Walk-In Tub Be Installed in a Mobile Home? works through the load in detail.
- Hot water: Ella recommends the maximum capacity water heater available for your house, with anything under 75 gallons not recommended, plus 3/4 inch supply lines with accessible shut-off valves.
- Faucet and drain on the Mobile: the included 2-piece single-lever fast-fill faucet has a fill rate designed for 16 GPM, two 3/4 inch by 5 foot supply lines and a 5-setting hand shower, and the tub drains through one oversized 2 inch drain with an easy-turn opener and emergency pull chain.
- Electrical on the Front Entry: dedicated GFCI 110/120V 60Hz lines, one for Hydro or Air + Hydro and two for Hydro + Microbubble or the heated seat.
Therapy Packages and Features on the Compact Tubs
Compact does not mean soaking only. Both Mobile videos on this page show the tub's jetting: three-speed air massage with 14 air jets and Auto Purge, and hydro massage with 15 jets, an intensity control dial, an in-line heater, foot massage jets and ozone sterilization. The Mobile follows the outward-door family menu of Air + Hydro, Hydro + Foot, Hydro + Microbubble, Hydro and Soaking, with LED chromatherapy included in the dual package. Because the equipment sits under the seat, this compact frame carries at most two systems. Options include a digital touchpad and a heated seat and backrest.
The Front Entry offers Air + Hydro, Hydro + Microbubble, Hydro and Soaking, and the team confirms the Soaking version is available. There is no Hydro + Foot option and no LED light with any Front Entry package. Its hydro system has 13 jets, its air system has 16 jets, and the optional extras are a heated seat, a digital controller and seat cushions. On any Ella air system, Auto Purge starts about 20 minutes after the air pump is turned off and runs 120 seconds to clear water from the lines. Ella Front Entry 32x40: The Compact End-Door Tub has the full package list.
How to Order One
Contact your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 with the width of every doorway on the path, the length and width of the space where the tub will sit, which side the plumbing is on, and the package you want. Confirm the faucet at order time, since one Mobile video mentions a 5-piece option alongside the included 2-piece set. Ella does not send technicians, so line up a local licensed plumber and electrician for the installation, and have your contractor check the subfloor before your order is placed.
