The full three-piece procedure: dry-assemble before demolition and photograph it, check the framing pocket for square, plumb, and level, slide the base in on three short PVC pipes, set the temporary threshold line, install the 2 inch no-caulk drain with plumber's putty, make sure the built-in back support leg touches the subfloor (the warranty depends on it), lay silicone adhesive beads, screw to the studs with countersunk #8 stainless screws, hang the wall panels on the pin-and-slot system from the front, mount the valve with looped PEX, leak test, and caulk every seam with 1/8 inch gaps. Part two is the barrier-free specific detail: clean the pocket completely because even a pebble affects the draft to the drain, leave a 10 by 10 inch opening around the drain, adhere the pan with three tubes of clear silicone in a square pattern, screw to the studs, recheck level and draft, use rapid-set modified thinset if the floor is more than 3/16 inch out of level, then brace the pan near the drain for four hours or weigh it with water-filled 5-gallon buckets before setting the lower and upper back panels, the side panels, and the valve wall.
