No one from Ella's Bubbles comes to your home to measure before you buy a walk-in tub, so there is no Ella in-home measurement visit to pay for, and nothing you schedule with Ella commits you to an order. Measuring help happens on an optional live video tour, where a specialist takes seat and doorway measurements with you on camera, as explained in Do I Need an In-Home Appointment to Buy a Walk-In Tub?. The only appointment an Ella order truly requires comes at the very end, when the freight carrier calls to set a delivery window.
Why Ella Has No In-Home Measuring Visit
Ella's Bubbles is the manufacturer. Every tub is assembled, jetted and tested to order in Chicago rather than pulled from stock, which is why dealers typically do not carry show models and home improvement store floors do not have Ella tubs on display. Selection is built around things you can do from home: a call with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, the spec sheets, the model videos and the live video tour. Because no sales visit exists on the Ella side, there is no representative at your kitchen table, no measuring appointment to book and no paperwork to sign at the end of one. The question of whether that visit is free simply does not arise.
The same principle holds after the sale. Ella does not send technicians for walk-in tubs. If a covered part is ever needed, it ships under the warranty and a local licensed plumber or electrician does the labor. The video on this page walks through the in-home sales tactics used elsewhere in the industry, such as the step outside to phone a sales manager for a same-day offer, or a disability checklist that everyone seems to qualify for, so you can recognize pressure when you see it. Ella's process keeps the choosing at your own pace instead.
What the Live Video Tour Is, and What It Is Not
The live video tour is the closest thing Ella offers to a measuring visit, and it reaches you over a video call rather than through your front door.
- It is a 30-minute slot, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central, joined from anywhere over Zoom, FaceTime or Google Meet.
- A specialist walks the showroom and the production floor, with up to 28 models on the floor, and demonstrates the doors, seats, controls, jets and even the equipment under the deck.
- The specialist can take seat and doorway measurements for you on camera, which is how the measuring part of a traditional in-home visit is handled.
- Family members can join from separate devices, and your questions are answered in real time.
It is optional. It is the most common way owners choose a tub, but it is not a condition of buying, and it ends with answers rather than a contract. Book it through the showroom tour scheduling page on the Ella's Bubbles website or by calling (800) 480-6850. If a confirmation or link has not arrived, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support and the team will resend it. The other viewing options are described in Can I See a Walk-In Tub in Person? Showroom Visits and Live Video Tours.
The Other Appointments, and Whether Any of Them Obligates You
- Chicago showroom visit. Every model is on display at 2700 W Roosevelt Rd, Chicago, where you can sit in the seats and compare shapes, sizes and door styles side by side. Visits are by appointment during business hours, Monday through Friday, Central time, so call (800) 480-6850 first. The display tubs are not filled with water for testing. Optional.
- South Florida mobile showroom. For homes between West Palm Beach and Miami, the mobile showroom brings the Ultra, the Capri and the Transfer30 to you by appointment. Optional, and only within that area.
- Freight delivery appointment. Once the tub reaches the terminal nearest you, the carrier calls the number on your order and sets a delivery window. This is the one required appointment, the tub waits at the terminal until it is set, and it only exists after you have placed an order.
- Warranty technician visit. Not offered for walk-in tubs. Parts ship and a local licensed contractor fits them.
Sitting in a tub is the surest way to confirm the seat width, door and step-in height suit you, which is why the showroom and the tour exist. None of them locks you in.
When a Contractor Measures Your Bathroom
The visit that does put someone in your bathroom is the installer's, and that is a separate relationship from buying the tub. Ella's Bubbles manufactures walk-in tubs and never performs or charges for installation, and you are never required to purchase installation from anyone. Any licensed, experienced local plumber and electrician can install an Ella tub by following the installation manuals, and certification by Ella is not required. Because installation is arranged directly between you and your contractor, labor pricing is set by the contractor, not by Ella. If a contractor offers to come out and measure before quoting, ask that contractor up front whether the visit carries a charge and whether it ties you to their estimate, since those terms are theirs to set. Ask the installers you are considering for written estimates. The team at (800) 480-6850 can also reach out to an installer in your area through Ella's nationwide network, including Angi Pro, once you share your installation address and the tub you are considering. How that works, and how Ella backs up your installer with free lifetime technical support by phone, email and live video, is covered in Who Installs My Walk-in Tub? Hiring a Licensed Contractor and How Ella Supports Them.
Shower projects are the one case where a measuring visit is part of the published process. After you build a design with the online Shower Builder Tool, a contractor visits your home to measure the space and finalize the installation details. That is still a contractor visit rather than an Ella sales call, so the same questions about terms apply.
What to Have Ready Before You Call or Join a Tour
Because every tub is assembled and tested to order around the model, size, door and therapy package you choose, the people who can see your exact configuration are the ones who can give you a real answer. A few details make that conversation quick:
- The model or family you are considering, or the size of the space if you are not sure yet.
- The door side you need, left or right as you face the tub, which is driven by where your house drain sits.
- The therapy package you are interested in, such as soaking, hydro massage, air massage, combined packages, microbubble, or the heated seat and backrest.
- Any accessories, such as a shower column kit, extension panel or glass shower screen.
- Your ZIP code, so the team can talk about your area.
Treat anything you have read in an old chat transcript, forum post or third-party listing as historical rather than current. Who answers each buying question, and why the answer depends on your configuration, is laid out in Common Buying Questions and Who Answers Them.
