Do I Need an In-Home Appointment to Buy a Walk-In Tub?

Updated September 2026

No one from Ella's Bubbles needs to visit your home before you choose a walk-in tub. Every Ella tub is assembled, jetted and tested to order in Chicago, so the choosing happens over the phone, from the spec sheets and model videos, or on a 30-minute live video tour where a specialist shows you the tubs in real time and can take seat and doorway measurements for you on camera. The one appointment every order does involve comes at the end, when the freight carrier calls to set a delivery window before the truck comes out.

Why There Is No In-Home Sales Visit

Ella's Bubbles is the manufacturer. Tubs are made per order rather than stocked, which is why dealers typically do not carry show models and home improvement store floors do not have Ella tubs on display. Selection is built around things you can do from home: a call with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, the spec sheets, the model videos, and the live video tour. The guide to which stores and dealers carry Ella tubs explains how the tubs reach you through the dealer network and how to find the dealer serving your zip code.

The same principle applies after the sale. Ella does not send technicians for walk-in tubs. If a covered part is ever needed, it ships under the warranty and a local licensed plumber or electrician does the labor. So the answer to "why do I need a walk-in tub appointment" is that, on the Ella side, you do not need one to buy, and the only appointment that is genuinely required is with the freight carrier on delivery day.

The Appointments That Exist, and Which Ones Are Optional

AppointmentWhere and whenRequired?
Live video tourAny 30-minute slot, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central, from anywhere; up to 28 models on the floorOptional; the most common way owners choose
Chicago showroom visit2700 W Roosevelt Rd, Chicago, where every model is on display; visits by appointmentOptional; the only permanent showroom
South Florida mobile showroomHomes between West Palm Beach and Miami; brings the Ultra, the Capri and the Transfer30 to you by appointmentOptional; only within that area
Freight delivery appointmentCarrier calls the number on your order once the tub reaches the terminal nearest you and sets a delivery windowRequired; the tub waits at the terminal until it is set
Warranty technician visitNot offered for walk-in tubs; parts ship and a local licensed contractor fits themNot applicable

What this means for you: the three viewing options are there if you want to sit in a tub or watch the jets running before you decide, but none of them is a condition of buying. The delivery appointment is different. It is not a sales step at all, but it cannot be skipped, and it is the reason Ella confirms a working phone number before any tub ships.

What a Live Video Tour Gives You Instead of a Home Visit

The live video tour is a real-time video call with an Ella's Bubbles specialist who walks you through the Chicago showroom and production facility. It is not a recording, and there is a live tub with water in it on the showroom floor so the jetting options can be demonstrated. The specialist can sit in the tub, demonstrate the features, and take seat and doorway measurements for you on camera, and you learn how to take your own body measurements so you know which tub will fit you most comfortably.

  1. Open the scheduling calendar at ellasbubbles.com/walk-in-tub/schedule-showroom-tour/ and pick any 30-minute slot, or call (800) 480-6850 and the team will book it for you.
  2. Before the call, a one-tap video link is texted to your phone. The tour works over Zoom, FaceTime or Google Meet.
  3. If the link has not arrived a few minutes before your slot, call (800) 480-6850. The team will resend it or reach you by phone instead.

The Delivery Appointment You Cannot Skip

Walk-in tubs ship as less-than-truckload freight, and freight carriers do not simply show up. Once the tub reaches the terminal nearest you, the carrier calls the phone number on the order to schedule a delivery window and to confirm someone will be there to receive a curbside delivery. That is why Ella confirms a valid, working US phone number on every order before the tub is released, including orders placed through a retailer or dealer.

  • Check the number on your invoice or order confirmation and make sure it is one you actually answer. If someone else will receive the tub, give their number before the ship date.
  • Turn on the ringer and set up voicemail. Carriers usually call from an unfamiliar number and leave a message.
  • Be on site for the window. The delivery is curbside: the crate is lowered to the ground and the driver does not carry it inside. Ask for liftgate service if you need it.
  • Inspect the crate with the driver present and note any damage on the bill of lading before signing.

If nobody is there during the scheduled window, the carrier records a failed delivery and bills a redelivery charge for the second attempt. Because that charge comes from the carrier, Ella passes it on, and the carrier will not try again until it is approved, while storage charges can begin at the terminal. The missed delivery guide explains how the team contacts you, asks before using the card from your order, and what to do if you were on site and the driver never came.

After Installation: Parts Ship, No Technician Appointment

Once the tub is in, there is still no appointment to make with Ella. The Lifetime Limited Warranty on a walk-in tub is a parts warranty. When a covered defect is verified from your photos and description, the part ships to the original customer's address at no charge, and a local licensed plumber or electrician fits it. Labor, plumbing and electrical connections, improper installation and water damage are not covered, and your installer provides their own warranty on workmanship. Many problems need no part at all, such as a reconnected air tube or a plugged-in cord, and the team works through those with you by phone, email or live video. The exception is showers built for Ella by a partner manufacturer, where warranty service does run through a scheduled field service visit; the shower warranty visit article explains that difference.

Common Questions

Does someone from Ella's Bubbles come to my home to measure?
No. Ella does not send anyone to your home. On the live video tour the specialist takes seat and doorway measurements on the actual tub for you on camera, and you learn how to take your own body measurements so you can compare them with your bathroom.
Why do I need an appointment for a walk-in tub delivery?
Walk-in tubs ship by freight with a scheduled appointment window, and the carrier must call you to set that window before the truck comes out. The delivery is curbside and someone must be present to accept and sign for the crate. If no one is there, the carrier records a failed delivery and bills a redelivery charge.
Can I see an Ella walk-in tub in person before I buy?
Yes, in two places. The only permanent showroom is in Chicago at 2700 W Roosevelt Rd, where every model is on display and visits are by appointment. For homes between West Palm Beach and Miami, the mobile showroom brings the Ultra, the Capri and the Transfer30 to you by appointment. From anywhere else, the live video tour is the way to see the tubs.
How long does the live video tour take?
You book a 30-minute slot, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Central, at ellasbubbles.com/walk-in-tub/schedule-showroom-tour/ or by calling (800) 480-6850. A one-tap video link is texted to your phone before the call and the tour works over Zoom, FaceTime or Google Meet.
Will a technician come out if my tub needs a warranty repair?
Not for a walk-in tub. Verified replacement parts ship at no charge and a local licensed plumber or electrician does the labor, with free lifetime technical support by phone, email and live video. Showers built by a partner manufacturer are handled differently, through that manufacturer's field service program.
