Ella's Bubbles is the manufacturer. It is a family owned company founded in 2005 that assembles, jets and tests acrylic walk-in tubs at its own facility in Chicago, Illinois, builds walk-in showers, shower pans and acrylic wall systems, and ships nationwide. Every tub, shower base, wall kit and accessory is ordered the same way, through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, who confirm the exact configuration before the product is built and tested for your order. Ella's Bubbles Walk-In Tubs: A General Overview introduces the company. This page explains what you can order, what the team needs from you to build it, and how a shower or accessory order differs from a tub order.
Ella, Ella Walk-In Tub and Ella's Bubbles Are One Company
Ella is simply the short form of Ella's Bubbles, which is why you see "Ella walk-in tub" next to the ellasbubbles.com website and why a search for an Ella tub lands on the same products as a search for Ella's Bubbles. The company has been family owned and family run since 2005 and holds an A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau. Its tubs are assembled, jetted and rigorously tested in Chicago. Every model is on display in the Chicago showroom, and if you cannot get to Chicago the team can walk you through a tub on a live video tour or demo, so you see the actual door, seat and controls before you decide.
Ella builds the tubs and backs them with parts and free technical support. It does not install them. The installation is done by local licensed trades such as plumbers, electricians and remodeling contractors, and the team can help you find one.
What Ella's Bubbles Makes
- Walk-in tubs, the main product line, designed for a safer, more comfortable bathing experience. The models span the stainless door, Ultra, outward swing, transfer, two seat, LayDown, economy and assisted bathing lines, so the first conversation is usually about which family suits the bather and the bathroom.
- Walk-in showers, shower pans and acrylic wall systems. Shower products are sold per item, so a complete shower is put together from a base in your size and drain position, a wall system sized to that base, and accessories such as grab bars or a shower door.
- Accessories for a tub, including shower attachments, a slide bar, a rain shower, glass shower screens, tile plans and acrylic bolster rounds.
- A Pet Spa.
How a Walk-In Tub Order Is Placed
A tub is assembled and tested for your order rather than pulled from a shelf, so the order is really a list of decisions. Work through them before you call, and the call is short.
- Choose the model. Review the lineup at ellasbubbles.com, or describe the bather and the bathroom to the team and ask for help matching a model to the space.
- Settle the door side. The door side follows your house plumbing, because the door and the drains sit on opposite ends of the tub. Tell the team which side the existing drain is on as you face the tub.
- Pick the therapy package, the faucet and any accessories. Air plus hydro jet tubs, for example, include a 5-piece Ella fast-fill faucet with a handheld shower, two stainless steel grab bars in a chrome finish and a 2-inch dual drain with two openers, so ask what is already part of your order before adding items.
- Think about exposed ends. A second end panel is needed when both short ends of the tub will be exposed to the room. It can be added as its own line before the tub ships, or purchased later for a tub you already own.
- Confirm the configuration. Once your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 confirms the model, door side, therapy package, faucet and accessories, the tub is assembled and tested for your order and then shipped. Timing depends on the model, the options and current stock, so ask about the exact configuration you want.
Shower Bases and Wall Kits Are Ordered, Not Bought Off a Shelf
Ella's shower products are not stocked by local stores, so the local part of a shower remodel is your contractor, the trim and the sealant, not the panels or the base. Standard acrylic bases come in 30x60, 32x60 and 36x60 inches, each with a left or right drain, and when none of those fits Ella makes a rectangular acrylic base to your length and width, up to 44 inches wide by 80 inches long, with a left, right or center drain. Cultured marble bases are offered in three sizes as well. The base is finished acrylic, so it is ordered to size rather than cut on site. Where Can I Buy a Shower Base for a Bathroom Remodel? lists what to have ready when you call.
Wall systems come in three families. Acrylic shower wall panels are manufactured at 98 inches high, with 40-inch side panels and a 60-inch back wall, in plain white, a CNC routed design with light gray grout lines, or a digital print. Cultured marble travertine surrounds come as eight, six or four panel sets that glue directly over drywall, plaster, painted walls, cement board or existing tile, and each panel can be carried and installed by one person. Wall surrounds for walk-in tubs enclose the area around a tub. Your dealer or the team can send samples so you settle on a finish before anything ships, as Where Can I Buy Walk-In Shower Wall Kits Locally? explains.
Accessories for a Tub You Already Own
Accessories are ordered per item in the same way, and many can be added to an installed tub. A 24-inch hand shower slide bar, a 5-foot stainless steel shower hose with a coupling kit and a 10-inch rain shower are available as shower attachments. Glass shower screens depend on the tub: a bi-fold screen for LayDown tubs, which have no seat, and a four-fold screen for the Capri. Tile plans let a tub without a lid be tiled in, and acrylic bolster rounds come in different designs. Check your tub style, decide what you would like, then tell your Ella dealer, as Showers, Shower Screens, and Accessories for Your Ella Walk-in Tub describes.
Ordering from Outside the United States
Ella walk-in tubs ship to Canada regularly, and the order is placed the same way as anywhere else. Two things differ. Shower bases are not shipped to Canada because they are fragile and easily damaged in transit, and any duties, brokerage and taxes on a cross-border shipment are the buyer's responsibility. Some Canadian customers find it easiest to buy through Home Depot in Canada, a route the team has confirmed. Can Ella Ship a Walk-In Tub or Shower Base to Canada, and Are There Installers There? covers installers and customs paperwork.
