How do I identify the right replacement rollers, sweeps and bumpers for my shower door?

The correct replacement part for a shower door is identified from photographs and the door's identity, not from a parts catalog you search yourself. Send the support team a clear picture of the broken or missing piece together with your door model, SKU or kit number, the finish, the door size and which side of the door the part belongs to, and the team matches it against what is in the warehouse. Missing or Broken Shower Door Hardware: Rollers, Tracks, Knobs and Frame Parts lists the hardware that is stocked. This page is the checklist for getting the identification right the first time, including what happens with sweeps, gaskets and bumpers, which are not on that list by name.

What the Team Needs to Identify a Part

  1. Photos of the missing or broken piece. If you can, also photograph the same part on the other side of the door, since the undamaged twin shows the team exactly what shape and finish to look for.
  2. The door model, SKU or kit number. It is on the box label, in the shower kit part number on the packing list, on your retailer order confirmation, or on the original product listing. If your screen is on a walk-in tub, include the tub model and serial number as well. The video on this page shows the serial number label on the inside of one of the removable panels, and that number tells the team when the tub was made and which replacement parts are compatible.
  3. The finish, such as chrome or black, and the door size. The same door was offered in more than one version, so a part for one size or finish may not match another.
  4. The side the part belongs to, as you face the vanity. Some brackets are made for the left or the right panel only.
  5. The part number from the assembly drawing, if you still have the instructions.
  6. Where the door was purchased, with the receipt if it came from a retailer, and the shipping address for the part.

Rollers: The Team Sends Wheels and Bearings, Not Brackets

Roller wheels and bearings are universal within a door model. They are not molded to one door, so they fit any top rail for that door, and the team ships the wheels and bearings while the bracket stays on the glass. The bracket is fixed to the door and is very difficult to remove without risking the glass, which is why the whole bracket assembly is not what you receive. If the door has stopped rolling smoothly, for example after a damaged track scuffed the wheels, a short video of the door rolling helps the team see whether the wheels, the track or the alignment is at fault, and it is what they will ask for. Send that video along with the photos and you will usually skip a round of questions.

Sweeps, Gaskets and Bumpers

The named parts the team keeps are roller wheels and bearings, the top track, door knobs and the bottom aluminum frame on shower screens. A bottom sweep or a bumper is not among them by name, but the team will check any other door part for you on request, so the identification steps above are exactly what to send. Two details help you describe the piece correctly:

  • Ella's framed sliding doors have a full frame with a track along the bottom that the panels ride in. If the piece that failed sits in or on that channel, say so and photograph the channel from the end so its profile is visible.
  • The Primo thick-glass slider has no bottom rail at all. Along the bottom edge of the glass is a flexible gasket that acts as a water retainer and expands about 3/8 of an inch. If that gasket has shifted or has a gap, water can spray out, so a photo of the gap and of the full gasket length is what the team needs.

Does the Ella Shower Door Have a Bottom Track or Is It Trackless? explains how to tell which door you have by looking at the bottom edge of the glass, which settles the question of which bottom part you are describing before you write the ticket.

Before You Report a Part Missing

Some parts ship attached to the glass rather than loose in a bag. On the LayDown tub screens, one component comes connected to the glass door and has to be separated before installation, so a piece that seems to be missing may still be on the door. Check the packing list against every piece, including anything attached to the glass, before reporting it missing. On the LayDown screen, separate parts are limited and some pieces ship only attached to the glass, so the team will tell you which applies to the piece you need. If a top track looks damaged, send a clear photo of the damaged area, because the team compares your photo with a new track before shipping one. A part that is damaged or missing when you unpack the shipment should be reported within 48 hours of receipt through ellasbubbles.com/support, with all packaging kept, because shipping damage is handled as a freight claim rather than a warranty claim.

Doors Bought Through a Retailer or No Longer Distributed

Doors sold through home improvement retailers are supported, but those door lines have been discontinued for distribution through Ella, so every request is checked against the hardware that remains in the warehouse. Small pieces such as plastic clips and bracket extensions can often be located in remaining stock, while other parts are simply no longer in inventory, and the team tells you plainly which is the case rather than leaving you waiting. Replacement Parts for Discontinued Ella Sliding Shower Doors Sold Through Retailers covers that search. The warranty applies to the original purchaser only, so if the door came with a house you bought, the team still checks whether the hardware is on hand, and parts supplied outside warranty coverage may carry a charge for the part and shipping, confirmed with you before anything is processed. A cracked or shattered pane is handled separately as a complete replacement panel, described in Shattered or Cracked Shower Glass Panel: How Replacement Works. Ella does not send technicians, so your own installer fits whichever part arrives.

Common Questions

Do I have to remove the roller bracket to replace the wheels?
No. The bracket stays on the glass because it is very difficult to remove without risking the pane. The team ships the roller wheels and bearings, which swap onto the existing bracket.
Are the rollers the same for the left and right panels?
Roller wheels and bearings are universal within a door model and fit any top rail for that door. Some brackets, however, are made for the left or the right panel only. State which side the part belongs to as you face the vanity.
Can I order a bottom sweep for my Ella shower door?
A sweep is not one of the parts listed by name, but the team checks any other door part on request. Send photos of the piece, the door model or kit number, the finish and the door size. The team replies with what is available.
My Primo door sprays water at the bottom, which part do I ask for?
The Primo has no bottom rail, only a flexible gasket along the bottom edge of the glass that expands about 3/8 of an inch. A gasket that has shifted or has a gap can let water spray out. Photograph the gap and the full gasket length when you open the ticket.
What if I bought the door at a retailer and have no kit number?
The door model or SKU appears on your retailer order confirmation or on the original product listing. Send that with photos of the broken piece, the finish, the door size and the receipt. The team searches the remaining warehouse stock and tells you whether the part is on hand.
Who installs the replacement rollers or hardware once they arrive?
Ella does not send technicians, so your own installer fits the part. The team ships it to you and emails a tracking number when it leaves. Technical support can answer your installer's questions about the fit.

About this guide. Answers in the Ella’s Bubbles Support Center are compiled from real conversations with tub owners, our technicians’ notes and the product documentation, then reviewed by our team. Tub models and options have evolved over the years, so a detail here may differ slightly from your exact tub. If something looks different on yours, send us your serial number and a specialist will confirm it for your model.
