Where Can I Buy a Shower Base for a Bathroom Remodel?

Updated September 2026

Ella's Bubbles manufactures its own shower bases, and you order one through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, in three standard sizes, in custom rectangular sizes, or in cultured marble. The base arrives as a finished piece that your contractor sets and connects, and it is often paired with a multi-piece Ella wall kit rather than bought on its own, as Shower Bases and Wall Panels describes. This page covers what you can order for a remodel, what to have ready when you call, what the kit leaves out, and the one shipping limit to know about.

What Ella Makes for a Shower Remodel

Standard acrylic bases come in 30x60, 32x60 and 36x60 inches, each with a left or right drain. When none of those fits, Ella makes a rectangular acrylic base to your length and width, up to 44 inches wide by 80 inches long, with a left, right or center drain. Requests the team has handled include pans shorter than 60 inches, pans longer and wider than the standard sizes, and other footprints with a center drain. A 58 by 30 inch base with a center drain has been produced, and a 38 by 80 inch base with a left drain sits within the limits. A custom base typically has a threshold of about 3 inches. For a barrier free entry, zero threshold bases sit flush with the surrounding floor instead of that step, which can make entry easier.

Ella also offers cultured marble shower bases in three sizes. The first video on this page shows them: molded solid cultured marble with a glossy gel coat finish and an ADA compliant slip resistant textured floor, built to be sturdy, durable and easy to maintain. They are heavy and need at least two people to install, so tell your contractor which material you ordered before delivery day.

Why the Base Is Ordered to Size Rather Than Cut

Ella pans, standard or custom, are finished acrylic. They do not need to be tiled over, and the length, the width and the drain position are all fixed when the pan is made, so the answer to an odd space is a custom order, not a saw. Can shower pans be cut to size or ordered custom? goes into that distinction and the biggest pan you can order. The component that is trimmed on site is the wall surround. The second video shows the cultured marble travertine wall panels, made from natural quartz and granite composite with a gel coat surface. They come as eight, six or four panel surrounds, can be carried and installed by one person, glue over drywall, plaster, painted walls, cement board or existing tile, and have factory finished edges for seamless joining that can be trimmed and cut for a custom fit. Ella's acrylic shower wall panels are made 98 inches high, with side panels measuring 40 inches and the back wall panel measuring 60 inches, in a plain white finish, a CNC routed design with light gray grout lines, or a digital print option. The practical rule for a remodel is to measure the finished opening, not the framing, order the pan in that size, and let any on-site fitting happen in the walls above it.

What to Have Ready When You Order

  1. The finished length and width of the opening, measured with the wall finishes in place rather than from the framing.
  2. Where the existing drain line sits in the floor, so your dealer or the team can confirm which drain position matches your size and how the base meets your plumbing rough-in.
  3. Whether you want the standard threshold or a zero threshold entry.
  4. The wall finish you prefer. Styles and finishes vary, so ask your Ella dealer or call (800) 480-6850 to see samples and confirm which option fits your bathroom.
  5. How you plan to close the front: a curtain rod, a glass door or a screen, depending on the package.

Confirm every accessory that fits your base and wall package before you order, so everything arrives together for the installer.

What the Shower Kit Does Not Include

An Ella shower kit is the acrylic base, the wall panels and, if you choose one, a glass door or screen. The enclosure stays open to your bathroom ceiling. Ella does not offer a dome, a ceiling top panel or a light fixture, so lighting comes from the fixtures already in the room or from a new fixture rated for wet or damp locations that your electrician installs on a circuit that meets local code. Decide the fixture location before the wall panels go up so any wiring above the shower is finished first. Does Ella Offer a Dome, Ceiling Panel or Light for Its Showers? covers what is and is not available, including the molded or fold-up seats and curtain rod that can be added depending on the model.

Shipping Limits and Complete Stalls

Shower bases are not shipped to Canada because they are fragile and easily damaged during shipment, even though Ella walk-in tubs are delivered to Canadian addresses all the time. If a project north of the border calls for a shower base, ask the team about a walk-in tub instead or source a base locally, and read Can Ella Ship a Walk-In Tub or Shower Base to Canada, and Are There Installers There? before planning the bathroom around it. If the remodel needs a complete stall rather than a base with separate walls, Ella also builds one-piece stalls in four footprints, 42 by 42, 48 by 37, 60 by 33 and 60 by 36 inches, at 77 or 80 inches high, plus three-piece and five-piece kits for finished bathrooms where a one-piece unit cannot reach the room. What is the standard size of a basic shower stall? lays those sizes out side by side.

Common Questions

Does Ella's Bubbles make its own shower bases?
Yes. Ella manufactures acrylic bases in 30x60, 32x60 and 36x60 inches with a left or right drain, custom rectangular bases up to 44 inches wide by 80 inches long, and cultured marble bases in three sizes. Order through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850.
Can an Ella shower base be shipped to Canada?
No. Shower bases are fragile and easily damaged during shipment, so the team does not ship them to Canadian addresses. Walk-in tubs do ship to Canada regularly, so ask the team about a tub instead or source a base locally.
Does an Ella shower base need to be tiled over?
No. Ella pans, standard or custom, are finished acrylic and are ready to use once installed. Your contractor sets the base, connects the drain and finishes the walls around it.
What should I measure before ordering a shower base?
Measure the finished opening, not the framing, for both length and width, and note where the existing drain line sits in the floor. The dealer or team uses those figures to confirm the size and drain position. Any fitting on site happens in the wall panels above the pan, which can be trimmed.
Does the shower base come with wall panels?
Bases are often paired with a multi-piece wall kit rather than sold as stand alone pieces, and the wall style is chosen separately. Ask your Ella dealer or the team to match the base, the walls and any glass door or screen so the pieces arrive together.
Who installs the shower base once it arrives?
A local licensed contractor sets the base, connects the drain and finishes the walls. Ella does not send technicians. Cultured marble bases are heavy and require at least two people to install, so plan the crew accordingly.
