Is My Broken Handheld Tub Sprayer Covered by Warranty, and How Do I Replace It?

In most cases, yes. The handheld sprayer is part of the faucet on your Ella walk-in tub, and the Lifetime Limited Warranty covers the faucet and fixtures for parts, for the original owner at the original installation address, once the team verifies the failure from your photos. The sprayer head is its own part that threads onto the hose by hand, so the fix is a matched replacement part, not a service call, as explained in Hand Shower Hose and Sprayer Head Replacement, and Water Behind the Tub Near the Hand Shower.

What the Warranty Says About a Handheld Sprayer

The Ella's Bubbles Lifetime Limited Warranty covers the bathtub shell, frame, door, door seal and finish, and it also covers the supporting equipment, which includes fixtures and the faucet. It is a parts warranty. That means a sprayer that fails after two years is not ruled out by its age alone, because the published coverage on Ella faucet parts is a lifetime limited one. What decides a claim is who owns the tub, where it is installed and what the photos show.

Three conditions matter for a hand shower claim:

  • You are the original owner. The warranty is extended to the first purchaser only and is nontransferable.
  • The tub is at its original installation address. Coverage stays with that address, and warranty parts ship there.
  • The faucet is an Ella faucet. Non-Ella brand faucets carry only their own manufacturer's warranty.

The team documents each failure for the warranty and verifies it from your photos before a part goes out. That is why the request asks whether the tub is newly purchased or already installed, and whether you are the original owner. Nobody can promise the outcome of a specific claim in advance, but a clear photo of a broken Ella sprayer on a tub you bought and still own at the same address is exactly the request the process is built for.

Find Out What Actually Broke Before You Ask

A few minutes of checking tells you, and the team, which part you need. The sprayer head unscrews from the hose by hand, with no tools.

  1. Turn the water off, then unscrew the head from the end of the hose.
  2. Look inside the threads of the head for a washer and a small blue backflow check valve. A missing washer or check valve is a common reason water drips or sprays sideways at that joint, and if either is missing the head itself is what needs replacing.
  3. Inspect the plastic threads. A crack above the threading cannot be repaired, so photograph it.
  4. If the head snapped off, check whether the broken threads can be worked out of the hose end. If they come out, only a new sprayer head is needed. If they are stuck in the hose, you need a new hose as well.
  5. If the head is intact, thread it back on hand tight and try each spray setting. If one setting hisses or squeals, take a short video of it.

Heads do break in ordinary use. A sprayer head can break off at the threads where it connects to the hose, sometimes while it is simply being wiped down, and cracked threads often follow a drop. If your head is leaking at the joint but has not broken, Why Does My Hand Shower Head Spray Out the Side and Can I Replace Just the Head? walks through the washer, the check valve and which end of the hose goes where.

What to Send so the Right Sprayer Is Matched

Hoses and sprayer heads are matched to the faucet set that came with the tub, and they vary by faucet set and by the age of the tub. On the Ella fast-fill faucets the handset threads onto the end of the 5 foot hose and offers five spray settings, while the waterfall fast-fill faucet has its own extendable hand shower with four settings. The team does not want to send the wrong part, so please do not buy a generic head in the meantime.

Open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support, or contact your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, with:

  • Your tub model and your serial number or invoice number. The serial number is on the label behind the magnetic access panel next to the door.
  • A photo of the faucet on the deck and a photo of the damaged sprayer.
  • A short description of what happened.
  • Whether the tub is newly purchased or already installed, and whether you are the original owner.
  • Where the tub was purchased, plus your contact details and a street address for shipping.

If you bought the tub years ago and no longer know which faucet you have, the team can look up your original order to match the right handheld. If the warranty activation form was never submitted, the team may ask you to complete it at ellasbubbles.com/warranty-activation/ as part of the request. The full checklist is in How to order replacement parts for your Ella walk-in tub.

How the Replacement Arrives and Goes on

For parts covered under warranty, the replacement ships free of charge to the original installation address after verification. The team tests the replacement hose or sprayer head before it ships, and parts travel by UPS, so a PO box cannot be used.

Fitting a new head is a hand tight job. Thread the new head onto the hose, with the conical connector of the hose on the handset end and the hex nut end at the deck mount. A head fitted to the wrong end of the hose is one of the known causes of a sideways spray, so orientation matters. If you also received a hose, it unscrews at its base fitting, and if the base is not reachable from above, the hose can be changed from the access panel. Do not force a hose end through a deck fitting that looks too small. Stop and send the team a photo instead.

What Is Not Covered

The warranty is for parts only. Labor is never covered, and Ella does not send technicians. A sprayer head swap needs no tools, so most owners do it themselves, and anything beyond that is work for a local licensed plumber. Coverage also does not pass to a second owner or follow a tub that has been moved to a new address, and it does not apply to a non-Ella brand faucet, which is covered only by its own manufacturer. Even outside the warranty, replacement parts remain available, and the same ticket gets the correct sprayer identified for your faucet. If more than the sprayer is worn, Replacing Your Walk-In Tub Faucet Set, Valves or Hand Mixer explains how the team decides whether you need one piece or a full set.

Questions fréquentes

Is a handheld sprayer that broke after two years still covered?
The Lifetime Limited Warranty covers the faucet and fixtures for parts, so the age of the tub alone does not end coverage. It applies to the original owner at the original installation address, and the team verifies the failure from your photos before a part ships.
Can I replace just the sprayer head and keep the hose?
Yes. The head is its own part and unscrews from the hose by hand with no tools. If the head snapped and its broken threads are stuck in the hose end, you need a new hose as well.
Can I buy a generic shower head from a hardware store instead?
Please do not. Hoses and handsets are matched to the faucet set that came with your tub and vary with the age of the tub, so a generic head is not a safe swap. The team can identify the correct handheld from your photos or your original order.
Will Ella send someone to install the new sprayer?
No. Ella does not send technicians, and labor is never covered by the warranty. The sprayer head threads on by hand, and a local licensed plumber can handle anything more involved.
What photos does the team need for a sprayer claim?
Send a clear photo of the damaged sprayer and a photo of the faucet on the deck, along with your tub model and serial number or invoice number. A short video helps if one spray setting hisses or squeals.
Where does the replacement sprayer get shipped under warranty?
Warranty parts ship free of charge to the original installation address after verification. Parts ship by UPS, so a street address is needed and a PO box cannot be used.

About this guide. Answers in the Ella’s Bubbles Support Center are compiled from real conversations with tub owners, our technicians’ notes and the product documentation, then reviewed by our team. Tub models and options have evolved over the years, so a detail here may differ slightly from your exact tub. If something looks different on yours, send us your serial number and a specialist will confirm it for your model.
