Which Glass Shower Screen Fits Your Ella Tub and Where It Mounts

The glass shower screen that fits an Ella tub depends on the tub type, and every Ella screen is designed for a three-wall alcove installation. Seated walk-in tubs use the 4-fold tempered glass shower screen, which closes off the open front of the alcove while you shower and folds back out of the way when you are done. The LayDown tubs use a separate bi-fold glass screen made for those tubs, and that bi-fold screen does not fit the seated walk-in models. Ella does not currently offer a walk-in tub with a full glass door in place of a folding screen.

Which Screen Goes with Which Tub

The 4-fold shower screen is the option for seated walk-in tubs. Its tempered glass panels close off the front of the alcove while you shower and push aside afterward, so the tub keeps an open, airy feel instead of a curtain clinging to the tub walls.

The bi-fold glass screen is offered only for the LayDown tubs. When a customer asked whether the bi-fold could go on a large seated model such as the ShaK, the answer was that it would not work for that unit. If you own a seated walk-in tub, the 4-fold screen is the one to ask about.

Where the Screen Mounts Relative to the Door

Both screens are alcove screens. The tub sits with its back and both ends against finished walls, and the screen closes the open front of the tub, which is the same side you step through the walk-in door. Because the panels fold, they can be pushed aside to leave the door clear for entry and then closed once you are seated. The mounting positions and hardware differ between the 4-fold screen and the LayDown bi-fold, so always work from the instructions for your specific tub. Ella provides an installation video for the 4-fold screen and an installation diagram for the LayDown bi-fold screen. Ask for the one that matches your tub and mention the model, because the two sets of instructions are not interchangeable. When the Tub Is Not in a Full Alcove

Ella screens cannot close off an open end of the tub. If only two walls are available and the drain end or the seat end would be exposed, staff have suggested two approaches: frame and finish a wall on that open side so the tub sits in a true alcove, or hang a shower curtain on a curved rod that turns the corner to cover the open end. Plan this before you order, because the screen alone will not solve an open end.

Showering in a Walk-In Tub
