An Ella shower kit ships with the shower stall itself, the grab bar set listed for that kit, and the drain. It does not include a shower head, a hand shower, a mixing valve or valve trim, and the wall arrives without a valve cutout, so your plumber selects the valve and cuts the openings on site. Plan to buy the shower valve with its trim, the shower head and any hand shower separately before installation day. With those fixtures in hand, the kit covers everything else on the shower side; the rough-in plumbing is supplied by your installer.
In the Box
The carton contains the stall, whether one-piece or multi-piece depending on the model, the grab bars packed loose, and the drain. The installation manual for your kit is published with the product listing and is also available from the team. Grab bars are not pre-installed, so mounting them is part of the installation; the details are in the guide to reinforced backing zones and grab bar screws. Confirm the grab bar count against your order when you unpack.
Not Included
No shower head or hand shower is included with the shower kit, so nothing in the box detaches for hand-held use. No mixing valve, valve trim or supply plumbing is included either. The drain that ships with the kit is connected to the house waste line by your plumber, who also supplies the rough-in piping and fittings. If you want a hand shower on a slide bar, choose that hardware with your plumber when you select the valve so the openings can be planned together.
No Valve Cutout in the Wall
The wall arrives solid, with no opening for a valve or shower head and no preset height or offset. The correct location depends on the valve you choose, the rough-in behind the wall and the needs of the person using the shower, so your plumber marks and cuts the openings during installation. Guidance on picking a valve and cutting the valve and shower head openings is in choosing a shower valve and cutting the valve and shower-head openings.
Before Installation Day
- Choose the shower valve and trim with your plumber and have it on site before the stall is set.
- Buy the shower head, and the hand shower and slide bar if you want one.
- Confirm that the drain position on the stall matches the rough-in in your floor.
- Agree with your installer that the grab bars will be mounted as part of the job, since they ship loose.
How This Differs from a Walk-In Tub Order
Walk-in tubs are often ordered with an Ella faucet package that includes a hand shower, and the tub carton contents are different; see what comes with your walk-in tub order. The shower kit is a stall, grab bars and drain only, with the fixtures chosen by you and your plumber. Soap ledge and bench choices for the multi-piece stalls are described in ordering the 5-piece shower stall with soap ledges, a bench or grab bars.
