What Is the Swivel Tray on a Walk-In Tub?

The swivel tray is Ella's patented removable 360 degree tray, also called the rotating bath tray or bath caddy, that gives you a dry spot for a drink, a book or bath items while you soak. It measures 8.5 by 8.5 inches with a 2 inch pin on one corner, mounts in a threaded fitting near the door on the stainless inward-swing deck, and rotates out of the way for entry and exit.

The 8.5 by 8.5 inch swivel tray pins into the deck beside the stainless door and turns a full circle.

How It Works

Slide the pin into the threaded fitting near the door and screw the cap on to secure it. In use the tray pivots a full circle, so you swing it over the water once you are settled and swing it clear of the door when you get in or out. To remove it, unscrew the cap and lift; a cap covers the fitting when the tray is off, so the deck stays smooth. Because the tray sits close to the door, it can interfere with a glass shower screen, so plan the screen position before either is installed; see installing glass shower screens.

Which Ella Models Have It

The tray is standard on the stainless inward-swing door family and on the two stainless-door two-seat tubs: the Elite (Model profile), Royal (Model profile), Deluxe (Model profile), Ultimate (Model profile), Companion (Model profile) and Escape (Model profile). It is not listed for the Petite, and it is not compatible with the Ultra or the Transfer30, because the tray is designed for the stainless inward-swing deck. The stainless-door family video tour shows the deck the tray mounts to.

What to Know as an Owner

Care is simple: wipe the tray with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner, keep the cap on the fitting whenever the tray is off, and lift the tray out rather than forcing it past the door. The tray can be added after the tub is installed, since it only needs the fitting on the deck. Replacement trays and the tray plug are arranged with your model and serial number through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, and a photo of the fitting near the door helps confirm the right part. The full accessory list, including risers and cushions, is in swivel tray, seat pillow riser and seat cushions, and screen and rain head questions are gathered in showering add-ons and accessories.

Common Questions

What is the swivel tray on an Ella tub used for?
It is a dry, flat surface for a drink, a book or bath items while you soak. It pins into a threaded fitting near the door and rotates a full 360 degrees, so it swings clear of the door for entry and exit.
Does the Petite have a swivel tray?
The tray is not listed for the Petite. It is standard on the Elite, Royal, Deluxe, Ultimate, Companion and Escape, and it is not compatible with the Ultra or the Transfer30.
How do I get a replacement tray for my walk-in bathtub?
Ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, or open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support with your model and serial number. A photo of the tray fitting near the door helps the team confirm the correct tray and cap before anything ships.
Can the swivel tray be added after the tub is installed?
Yes. The tray only needs the threaded fitting on the stainless inward-swing deck, so it can be added to a compatible tub at any time; slide the pin in and screw the cap on to secure it.
Will the tray get in the way of a glass shower screen?
It can, because both sit near the door end of the deck. Plan the screen position with the tray in mind before the screen is mounted, and the installing glass shower screens article covers the placement rules.
