Yes. The 5-Piece Fast Fill faucet is the replacement set Ella supplies when an older faucet set is no longer offered, and the team sends the version sized for the deck plate already on your tub, so the swap is planned around your existing deck rather than a fresh cut-out. The general replacement process, and the cases where only one piece needs to change, are covered in Replacing Your Walk-In Tub Faucet Set, Valves or Hand Mixer. This page is about the 2-piece to 5-piece swap itself: what the team needs before anything ships, what changes on the deck, what changes under it, and the hand shower parts that have to match the new set.
What the Team Needs Before a Faucet Ships
Every faucet request starts with the same three questions, because in many cases only one piece of a faucet set is actually failing. The team will ask what the faucet is doing wrong, which faucet is on the tub, and whether you have the original invoice. The invoice names the faucet model. If you cannot find it, a clear photo of the faucet on the deck is enough for the team to identify the set, and from there they tell you whether you need the valves, the spout, the hand mixer line, or a complete set.
Send that photo, along with your model and serial number, to your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850, or open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support. If the answer is a complete set, the 5-Piece Fast Fill is the set supplied for older faucet models that are no longer offered, and it is matched to your deck before it is packed.
What Changes on the Deck
The 5-Piece Fast Fill set looks very similar on the deck and connects the same way as the faucet it replaces. The one thing you will notice every time you bathe is the diverter. On the 2-piece fast-fill faucet the hand shower diverter is a button under the spout: you turn the water on with the lever and press the button, and water moves from the spout to the hand shower. On the 5-piece faucet the diverter is the middle lever between the hot and cold handles: you turn the middle lever toward OFF and push the faucet lever down, and the hand shower takes over. Turn it back and the water returns to the spout. Both styles are explained in What Is a Hand Shower Diverter on a Walk-In Tub?.
The deck plate is the detail that decides which version you receive. The valves on the newest version of the 5-piece faucet are too large to fit a replacement plate, so the team supplies the version sized for the deck plate that is already on your tub. That is why the photo of your deck matters more than the model name: it shows the team the plate they are fitting to.
| Detail | 2-piece fast-fill faucet | 5-Piece Fast Fill faucet | What it means for the swap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hand shower diverter | Button under the spout | Middle lever between the hot and cold handles | A new motion to learn, but the hand shower works the same way |
| Supply lines | Older faucets usually have 1/2-inch lines | 3/4-inch supply lines | Your plumber may fit a 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch NPT adapter at the check valves |
| Thermostatic temperature control piece with built-in filter | Some older faucets had it | Not used on the 5-Piece Fast Fill set | One less piece under the deck to foul or service |
| Hand shower | Five spray settings, 5 foot retractable hose, 1.9 GPM | Five spray settings, 5 foot retractable hose, 1.9 GPM | The handset style is the same, but the hose is matched to the set |
| Deck plate fit | Not listed | Supplied in the version sized for your existing deck plate | The team confirms fit from a photo of your deck |
Read together, the differences fall into two groups. The diverter and the missing thermostatic piece change how the faucet feels and what sits under the deck, but they need no extra parts. The supply lines and the hose are the two items that need planning, because one may call for an adapter and the other must be ordered to match the new set.
What Changes Under the Deck
The supply lines are the one planning point that lands on your plumber. The 5-Piece Fast Fill set uses 3/4-inch supply lines, while older faucets usually have 1/2-inch lines. If the check valves under your tub have 1/2-inch connections, your plumber fits a 3/4-inch to 1/2-inch NPT adapter, which is a standard plumbing part.
You also do not have to replace everything. You can leave the existing spout and hand sprayer in place and switch out only the handles and valves, adapting the spout supply line from 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch NPT. That limits the work to the valve side of the set.
One piece disappears in the swap. The 5-Piece Fast Fill set does not use the thermostatic temperature control piece with the built-in filter that some older faucets had, so there is no filter on the new set to clean. If your tub has no hot water while the sinks do, that points to the thermostatic control valve on the faucets that have one, not the faucet body, so raise it with the team before deciding on a complete set.
The Hand Shower and Hose Have to Match the Set
Every Ella fast-fill faucet set includes the same style of pull-out hand shower: five spray settings, flow limited to 1.9 GPM by plumbing code, and a 5 foot retractable hose that is comfortable to use while seated and handy for rinsing the tub after your bath. The handset threads onto the end of the hose, with a washer and a small blue check valve inside the threads, and the hand shower is fitted with a backflow prevention valve to help protect your home's water supply.
What does not carry over freely is the hose. Hoses and handsets are matched to your faucet set, and the 5-piece hose does not fit the 2-piece faucet, so plan the hose as part of the swap rather than assuming the old one will be reused. If the old hose end will not pass back through the deck fitting, or the openings look too small for the new ends, do not force it; photograph the deck fitting so the team can send the hose with the deck fitting pre-installed. The hose guidance, including which end goes where, is in How Do I Replace a Cracked, Leaking Hand Shower Hose?, and Which Handheld Shower Head Is Best for an Ella Walk-In Tub? explains why a generic head is never the answer.
When the 2-Piece Set Does Not Need Replacing at All
Before ordering a complete set, rule out the repairs that keep the 2-piece faucet you already have:
- Dripping or a stiff handle usually means a worn cartridge rather than a new faucet. The video on this page shows the 2-piece cartridge coming out: remove the decorative bolt cover, loosen the Allen bolt, lift off the handle, unscrew the escutcheon plate, remove the brass locking collar and lift the cartridge out. The new cartridge seats when its two guide posts line up with the receptacles in the housing, and the red side sits on the left for hot and the blue on the right for cold.
- A diverter button stuck closed after the water is turned off is an air lock, not a broken part. Unscrew the hose from the handset, remove the plastic restrictor, and the button snaps back. Screw the hose back on.
- Hard water can make an older 2-piece diverter stick. Removing the valve and soaking it in rubbing alcohol or a descaler often frees it, and when a diverter valve has truly failed, the complete valve is supplied on its own.
- A leaking or kinked hand shower hose is replaced on its own as the hand mixer line, and worn valves or a broken handle can be replaced without touching the spout or sprayer.
If none of those fit, or your faucet model is no longer offered, the complete 5-Piece Fast Fill set is the path, and the team confirms the right version from your deck photo before it ships.
