Why do my tub motors cycle on and off with no green LED?

When the jet or blower motor starts and stops on its own and the green LED on the blue control box stays dark, the fault is at the control box or in the power reaching it, not at the deck buttons. A dark LED on a live outlet means the box's power cord is not seated or the box itself has failed, and a pump that shuts off and restarts by itself points to the control box as well, because the box switches every pump through its relays. What the Green LED Is Telling You

The blue control box is the electronic component controller for the whole tub. Each pump plugs into it as a separate 110 volt load, drawn on the component diagram as Load 1 and Load 2, and the box switches those loads on and off through relays when you press the deck controls. The push buttons themselves send only an air signal down a small tube to the box, and the digital keypad connects to the same board. That is why the state of the LED matters so much: lit means power is reaching the box, and dark on a live outlet means either the box's cord is not seated or the box is the problem. When both motors cycle and the light is out, the common element is the power supply to the box.

The master control box video shows the connections on two versions of the box: the sockets for the air pump and the water pump, the heated seat pads, the air tubes from the push switches, the keypad display, the chromatherapy light and the config switch. It also shows the two power inlets, a standard three-prong 15 amp connector on one box and a 20 amp plug with one vertical and one horizontal blade on the other, and points out where the green light comes on when power flows in. Knowing which inlet your box has tells you which receptacle it should be plugged into.

Two Normal Cycles That Are Not Faults

Before you pull the access panel, rule out the things that make a healthy tub stop or start on its own. About 20 minutes after you turn the air massage off, the Auto Purge starts by itself and runs for 120 seconds to blow residual water out of the air lines. It cannot be stopped, it runs once, and it is normal even if you are still in the tub. The in-line heater has no switch of its own and stops the instant the hydro pump stops, so warm water going cool at the same moment is one fault, not two. The push controls also need only a gentle touch: a stray brush on the hydro button stops the pump, and on the three-speed air control the first press is high, the second medium, the third low, and a fourth press turns it off. What to Check, in Order

1. At the electrical panel, switch each of the tub's dedicated breakers fully off, then back on. Ella tubs run on one or more dedicated 20 amp, 120 volt GFCI protected lines. If a breaker pops again the instant you reset it, stop and call a licensed electrician.
2. Remove the front apron access panel and find the GFCI outlet in the equipment compartment. A storm or outage often trips this outlet, and the panel breaker does not reset it, so press Reset here. If it will not hold, or trips as soon as a pump starts, leave power off and do not use the tub until an electrician has corrected it. That pattern signals ground current or a failed device, and from the bathroom it can look exactly like motors cycling.
3. Look at the green LED. If the outlet is live and the light is dark, check that the box's power cord is fully seated. A cord that is not seated is one of only two explanations for a dark light on a live outlet, and the other is the box itself.
4. Check where each pump is plugged in. The air pump and the hydro pump belong on the outlets on the blue box, not in the wall. A pump plugged straight into the wall outlet runs continuously by design and never switches through the box, so its behavior has nothing to do with the LED. 5. Run the control box reset shown in the video. Disconnect main power and confirm the LED goes out. Label every tube and electrical connection, then grasp each tube firmly, twist and pull, and ease the electrical plugs off slowly to protect the pins. Disconnect the air and water pumps. Reconnect main power: the LED flashes four times and then stays solid green. Press and hold the config button while the light blinks once, twice, three times and four times, release it, and watch it blink four times, go out, and return to solid green. Reconnect every line to its labeled position, plug the pumps back in, and test air, water, microbubbles and the light. Repeat the whole process if the first attempt does not take.
6. If the LED never goes solid, or the motors still cycle after a clean reset, the box is the problem. A control box that will not reset is a warranty part.
