What standard sizes do shower pans come in?

Ella's Bubbles shower pans come in three standard sizes: 30 by 60 inches, 32 by 60 inches, and 36 by 60 inches. Each is a finished acrylic base with a left or right drain, and the roll-in versions of all three are described in Wheelchair Accessible Shower Base Sizes, Drain Positions, and What Is Sold Separately. When none of the three fits, a rectangular custom base can be made from 30 by 30 inches up to 44 inches wide by 80 inches long.

The Three Standard Sizes

All three standard bases share a 60 inch length and differ only in width, at 30, 32 or 36 inches. The drain sits in a set position for each size, on the left or the right, and you confirm the drain side when you order so it lines up with the drain line already in your floor. Because the drain position is fixed for a standard size, a standard pan is the simplest choice whenever one of the three footprints fits your alcove.

• 30 by 60 inches, left or right drain.
• 32 by 60 inches, left or right drain.
• 36 by 60 inches, left or right drain.

Ella shower pans, standard or custom, are finished acrylic and are ready to use once installed. They do not need to be tiled over, so your contractor sets the base, connects the drain and finishes the walls around it.

Threshold Styles Within Those Sizes

• Barrier-free roll-in pans have no curb to step or roll over, and they ship with a self-adhesive collapsible rubber dam that keeps water in while a wheelchair rolls across it. A 32 by 60 inch roll-in base is offered in this style.
• A 3 inch step-in threshold base is offered for bathers who prefer a slightly raised edge.
• SMC low-profile bases, molded from sheet molding compound, include a 1 inch reversible linear-drain base and a barrier-free linear-drain base.
• Cultured marble reversible bases came in three sizes, but those kits have been on hold with no restock date, so check availability before planning around them.

Custom Sizes When a Standard Pan Will Not Fit

Custom acrylic bases are built to your length and width. Three-wall alcove bases run from 30 by 30 inches up to 44 by 80 inches, with the threshold on the longer side, and corner bases run from 30 by 30 inches up to 42 by 60 inches. Only rectangles are made, so a space that needs an angled or curved pan is not a fit. The drain can be left, right or center, but it must sit at least 9 inches from each wall. Sizes such as 46 by 46, 50 by 30 and 36 by 44 inches have been handled as custom requests, and a 58 by 30 inch base with a center drain has been produced. Custom bases are low step-in pans, with a threshold that is typically about 3 inches, and the galleries also show 2 inch and 4 inch low-threshold versions, so confirm the height you want.
