If your hydro jets have stopped pushing water and your plumber has concluded the water pump has failed, the replacement comes from Ella's Bubbles as a part. Ella does not send technicians, so the new pump ships to you and a local licensed plumber or electrician installs it. Before anything ships, the team asks a few questions and requests photos of the existing pump so the replacement is an exact match, and the pump is tested before it leaves.
What the Team Needs from You
Open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support and include the following so the team can move quickly:
- Which pump is affected. Hydro tubs have a water pump, and combination tubs also have a separate air blower, so say which system stopped working.
- When the problem started and what you noticed, for example a loud noise with no water movement, or a pump that is completely silent.
- When the tub was purchased and where it was purchased.
- Your model and serial number from the label behind the magnetic access panel next to the door.
- Photos of the pump. The most useful shot is the sticker on top of the black electrical box on the pump, but the team can usually match from any clear picture of the pump.
- Whether your pump has a built-in air switch. This is the switch on the pump with a small vacuum hose running to the push button on the tub deck, and the replacement needs the same switch.
The photos matter because the team wants to send an exact matching pump. Matching from the sticker confirms the new pump mounts to your tub the same way and works with your push button, so your installer does not run into surprises.
One Check Before You Order
A pump that is loud but not running sometimes has a seized inductor fan rather than a failed motor. With the pump switched on, use a flathead screwdriver to turn the fan screw at the end of the motor a quarter turn. If the fan frees up and the pump starts moving water, no replacement is needed. For the other first checks, see pump or massage system not working. If you are not sure whether the fault is the pump or the control box, start with the symptom index.
What Happens After Approval
Once the team confirms the match, the pump is tested and shipped. Details on testing, where parts ship, and what to do with the old pump are in what happens after a warranty part is approved. The lifetime parts warranty covers the pump itself for the original purchaser at the original installation address, once the team has verified the claim. It does not cover labor, so the plumber's or electrician's time to swap the pump is between you and your contractor. If anyone tells you that Ella will pay for the labor, that is not correct, and the published warranty terms apply.
How the Pump Comes Out
These notes are for your installer. Reach the pump by removing the front apron. Unthread the two unions on the lines coming off the pump elbows. If the existing unions cannot be reached, the lines can be cut and the unions supplied with the new pump glued in with Oatey Heavy Duty Clear PVC Cement. Disconnect the ground wire. Unscrew the nut on the push-button vacuum hose and slip the hose off its nipple. Free the pump from its mounting and reverse the steps with the new pump. Your installer can call (800) 480-6850 from the job site with any questions.
