after shutting off the water supply remove the control handle by loosening the allen bolt and lifting off the handle loosen and remove the cover plate then slide off the tcv governor remove all the washers and then remove the escutcheon plate at this point you may need channel locks or vice grips to loosen the metal collar make sure to use the unthreaded flat wrench area to prevent damaging the threads completely unscrew the metal collar unscrew the cartridge then check and clean the intake screens sediment salt and other debris can sometimes build up on these screens use a soft brush with some clr to clean check the bottom of the cartridge to make sure it is also free from debris and sediment after lightly lubricating the gaskets with a lithium grease replace and re-tighten the cartridge carefully replace the outer collar tighten securely but don't over torque replace the escutcheon plate and then replace washers replace the tcv governor and put the control handle back on and secure with the allen bolt when servicing the tcv make sure to inspect the water intake screen on the bottom check the screen and the check valve calcification and debris can sometimes impede proper water flow a soft brush and some clr can clean this easily
