Support can request this for you. If your condominium or apartment building requires a certificate of insurance from the delivery carrier before it will allow a freight delivery, contact support as soon as you know the requirement. Ella ships walk-in tubs by freight through a freight provider, and support passes your building's request to that provider, who requests the certificate from the carrier and forwards it to you or to your management office. The certificate comes from the carrier, not from Ella, so the request has to travel through the freight provider and takes some time.
What to Send Support
- Your order number and the name of the building or management company.
- The building's certificate form or its written requirements, including who must be named as the certificate holder.
- The email address the management office wants the certificate sent to.
- Your scheduled delivery date, if the carrier has already called to arrange it.
Send this the moment you know it is needed, ideally before the tub ships. Once the shipment is moving, the carrier is already headed toward you, and the building should have the certificate in hand before the truck arrives.
What Happens Next
Support forwards the request to the freight provider and copies you on that email so you can follow along. The freight provider asks the carrier to complete the building's form or issue its own certificate and forwards it when it arrives. The form has to be completed by the carrier, since it is the carrier's insurance that the building is verifying. If the building will not book a delivery window until it has the certificate in hand, say so in your ticket so support can flag the timing to the freight provider.
Plan for a Curbside Delivery
Freight delivery of a walk-in tub is curbside. The driver brings the crate to the curb or loading area but does not carry it into the building or up to your unit. Arrange for your installer or helpers to move it inside, and ask your management office about elevator reservations and loading dock rules at the same time you ask about the certificate. If the delivery date passes with no call from the carrier, see my order has not arrived and nobody called.
Inspect the Shipment When It Arrives
Inspect the crate for visible damage with the driver present. If you cannot make a qualified inspection at the time of delivery, write Concealed Damage Possible on the bill of lading, then date and sign it. Keep all packaging material, inspect the tub visually and operationally once it is unpacked, and report any concealed damage within 48 hours of receipt.
Not the Same as a Product Certification
A certificate of insurance is about the delivery carrier's liability coverage while its truck and driver are on the building's property. It is unrelated to the safety listing of the tub itself. If your building inspector or management office asks for proof that the tub is listed, that is a different document, explained in safety certifications on Ella tubs and faucets.
