What finish is the faucet on the Ella Big4One 33x66 tub?

Updated October 2026

The faucet on the Ella Big4One 33x66 is the 5-piece Fast-Fill faucet, and its spout is solid brass with a chrome finish. Chrome is the finish the Big4One ships with, it is the published faucet finish across the outward-swing door family the tub belongs to, and the rest of the exposed hardware on the tub, from the wall-mounted grab bar to the two extended drain handles, is chrome to match. The full model picture, from the 24 inch seat to the therapy package, is in Ella Big4One 33x66: Large Single-Seat Tub for Tall and Broad Bathers; this page covers the finish question and the question people ask in the same breath, whether the 33x66 model comes right-handed.

The Faucet That Ships on the Big4One

The current Big4One spec sheet lists the 5-piece Fast-Fill faucet with the tub and describes its spout as solid brass in a chrome finish. Those are two separate facts worth keeping apart. Solid brass is the metal the spout is made from, which is why it feels heavy in the hand and holds its shape over years of use. Chrome is the plated surface you see and clean, and it is the only finish printed for the faucet on the Big4One sheet.

The set is the same Fast-Fill design used across the Ella line, with a pull-out hand shower for rinsing the seat and the tub walls. A fast-filling faucet matters more on this tub than on most, because the Big4One holds 127 gallons unoccupied and 75 to 100 gallons when occupied, with the occupied figure varying by bather size. Ella's installation video for the Big4One recommends 3/4 inch supply lines for faster filling, and easily accessible shutoff valves placed close to the tub, so mention both to your plumber when the faucet goes in.

Everything Else on the Tub Is Chrome as Well

If you are matching the Big4One to a towel bar or a vanity faucet, it helps to know that chrome is not limited to the spout. The spec sheet names a material or finish for each exposed part, and the table below collects them.

Part of the Big4OneMaterial and finish on the spec sheetWhat it means for your bathroom
Fast-Fill faucet spoutSolid brass, chrome finishThe one part a finish question is really about; chrome as supplied
Wall-mounted grab barStainless steel, chrome finishMatches the faucet; mounts to the wall, not the tub
Drain openersTwo stainless-steel operated openers with extended handles in chrome finishTwo handles on the deck, one per drain, both chrome
DoorPlastic composite and tempered glass, 3-latch gear and shaft mechanismWhite composite frame with glass; no metal finish to match
ShellAcrylic, gloss white, fiberglass gelcoat reinforcedWhite only; the hardware reads against a white deck
FrameStainless steel with adjustable leveling legsHidden behind the apron and end panel once installed

What the table means in practice is that the Big4One arrives as a white tub with chrome hardware throughout, and the faucet is the only piece where a finish choice would ever come up. Pick chrome for the rest of the room's fittings and everything on the deck reads as one set. Pick another finish for the room and the tub still looks consistent with itself, because every chrome piece on it matches every other chrome piece.

Can a Big4One Be Ordered with a Different Faucet Finish?

Ella has offered faucets in finishes other than chrome, including brushed nickel and antique bronze. Whether one of those can be supplied on a Big4One order is something to confirm with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the order is placed, because the faucet is specified with the tub rather than swapped afterward. Two things do not change whichever faucet you choose: the grab bar and the drain handles stay chrome, and the tub stays white. If a brushed nickel or bronze look matters to you, ask about the faucet set specifically and plan on chrome for the other pieces.

Which Model Is 33x66, and Does It Come Right-Handed?

The Big4One is Ella's 33x66 model. Its actual size on the spec sheet is 33 1/8 inches wide by 66 inches long by 39.5 inches high, with a 24 inch seat, a net weight of 271 lbs and a shipping weight of 400 lbs in a 36 x 68 x 49 inch crate. It sits between the 60 inch tubs and the ShaK at 36 by 72 inches, which is described in Ella ShaK 36x72: The Largest Single-Seat Walk-In Tub.

The right-hand question has a different answer on this tub than on a 60 inch model, for two reasons.

  • The door is centered. The Big4One uses the outward-swing U-shape door in white composite and tempered glass, and that door sits in the center of the front and cannot be moved to one side. There is no left-door or right-door version to choose, and the door needs clear floor space in front of it to swing open through its 165 degree arc.
  • The drains are on both sides. The Big4One carries Ella's Dual Drain Technology: two 2 inch T-type 4-port floor drains, two overflows, and two end caps in the box. The spec sheet says the house drain can be connected to either port or to both, and the end cap goes on whichever side is not connected. So instead of ordering a right-hand drain, your installer connects the house drain on the side where your plumbing already sits and caps the other.

Ella's Big4One installation video shows exactly this. It walks through two different drain configurations, one using all four ports and one using two ports with the unused side capped, and it shows the dual drains with individual P-traps joined to the main house drain. The video also notes that 2 inch main drains are recommended for faster draining, and that a tee or wye connection into a house drain sized at 1 1/2 inches will also work. Your installer decides which configuration is most efficient for your plumbing, and the video reminds you that the drain, water supply lines and electrical connections must be reassessed once the old tub is out.

Planning the Rest of the Order

Once the finish question is settled, the two things that decide whether a Big4One works in your home are the path in and the bather. Every doorway and turn on the way to the bathroom must clear the bare 33 1/8 inch tub with its panels removed, and the alcove must measure at least 66 inches wall to wall; the figures and the crate dimensions are laid out in What doorway and room size does the Ella Big4One 33x66 need?. On fit, the team points bathers around 6 feet and taller with broad shoulders to the Big4One, and its very long seat is uncomfortable for a normal to shorter person; a broad bather who is not tall is usually happier in the TransferXXL, as explained in Ella Big4One vs TransferXXL: which bariatric tub suits a broad bather?. The tub ships with the digital-controller air massage plus dual hydro package, and the controller sits on the same deck as the chrome faucet, so the whole top of the tub reads as one finish.

Common Questions

What finish is the faucet on the Big4One walk-in tub?
The Big4One ships with the 5-piece Fast-Fill faucet, and its spout is solid brass with a chrome finish. Chrome is the only faucet finish printed on the Big4One spec sheet. The brass is the metal underneath, and the chrome is the surface you see.
Is the Big4One grab bar chrome like the faucet?
Yes. The spec sheet lists a stainless steel wall-mounted grab bar in a chrome finish, and the two drain openers with extended handles are chrome as well. The tub shell is gloss white acrylic, so the chrome pieces all match against a white deck.
Can I get the Big4One faucet in brushed nickel or bronze?
Ella has offered faucets in brushed nickel and antique bronze, so it is worth asking. Confirm what can be supplied on a Big4One order with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 before the order is placed. The grab bar and drain handles stay chrome regardless of the faucet.
Does the Big4One come with a right-hand door?
No. The Big4One's outward-swing U-shape door is centered on the front of the tub and cannot be moved to one side, so there is no left or right door version. It needs clear floor space in front of it to swing open.
Which Ella walk-in tub measures 33 by 66 inches?
That is the Ella Big4One. Its actual size is 33 1/8 inches wide by 66 inches long by 39.5 inches high, with a 24 inch seat. It is the large single-seat model one size below the ShaK.
Can the Big4One drain be connected on the right side?
Yes. The Big4One has two 2 inch 4-port drains with two end caps included, and the house drain can be connected to either port or to both. Your installer connects on the side where your plumbing sits and caps the unused side, as shown in the installation video.
