The Ella Royal's current spec sheet documents the 5-piece Ella Fast-Fill faucet: a deck-mounted set rated up to 18 GPM at 60 PSI with ideal in-home plumbing, with a pull-out chrome hand shower on a 5 foot retractable stainless braided hose. The faucet is chosen at order time rather than fixed to the model, so a Royal can also be built with the 2-piece Ella Fast-Fill set or with the thermostatic faucet package, and the tub is drilled at the factory for whichever set you select. The Royal's place in the stainless-door family is shown in Stainless-Door Tubs on Video: Elite, Royal, Petite, Deluxe and Ultimate Walkthroughs.
What the Royal Spec Sheet Lists for the Faucet
- A fill rate designed for up to 18 GPM at 60 PSI with ideal in-home plumbing, through a high-flow cartridge.
- Two 5 foot water supply lines, 3/4 inch.
- A pull-out chrome hand shower with a 5 foot retractable stainless braided hose, limited to 1.9 GPM.
- A back-flow prevention valve.
The hand shower is part of the faucet set, which is why it does not appear as a separate accessory line on your order paperwork. The spec sheet also notes that electrical amp values can change based on availability and asks buyers to verify before purchase, and the same caution is sensible for any figure here: confirm the current sheet for your order with your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850.
The Faucet Options for a Royal
| Faucet option | Fill rate with ideal home plumbing | Hand shower | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5-piece Ella Fast-Fill faucet | Up to 18 GPM at 60 PSI | Pull-out chrome hand shower on a 5 foot retractable stainless braided hose, limited to 1.9 GPM | The set documented on the Royal spec sheet and shown in the stainless-door family video tours |
| 2-piece Ella Fast-Fill faucet | 16 GPM | Included with the faucet set | The alternative fast-fill set, selected at order time |
| Ella thermostatic faucet package | not listed | not listed | Includes a built-in Thermostatic Control Valve that mixes hot and cold to a set temperature; the valve carries a 1-year limited warranty |
The differences matter because you sit inside a walk-in tub while it fills and again while it drains. Both fast-fill sets are built to shorten that wait, and the 5-piece set carries the highest documented rate. The thermostatic package trades a listed fill figure for temperature control, which is the option to ask about if the bather cannot react quickly to hot water. The fill-and-drain sequence itself, with the door closed before the water starts, is walked through in How Do You Use a Walk-In Bathtub Step by Step?.
Why the Faucet Is Decided When You Order
The first video on this page, Ella's faucet options walkthrough, explains the process on the factory floor: when you place the order, the bathtub is pulled down with your name on it, drilled for whatever faucet you select, and drilled and installed with whatever features you select. The presenter points to a tub fitted with the TCV faucet and names the 2-piece high-flow and 5-piece high-flow sets as the other choices. Two Royals can therefore leave the factory with different faucets, and your order confirmation is the record of which one yours has.
How the 5-Piece Faucet Goes Onto the Deck
The Royal spec sheet prints the standard four-step Ella 5-piece Fast-Fill installation, which your plumber follows on site:
- Fit the lever with its gasket, washer and two nuts.
- Fit the spout, with its washer nut tightened under the deck.
- Fit the hand mixer with its plastic nut.
- Connect the hot and cold supply lines.
The tub itself arrives fully assembled, jetted and tested, and the faucet holes are already drilled, so the plumber's faucet work is limited to these steps and the tie-in to your home's supply. The therapy systems need their own dedicated GFCI-protected electrical line or lines at 110/120V, which is a separate task for your electrician and does not touch the faucet.
The Rest of the Royal Around the Faucet
The Royal is the widest-seat model in the stainless-door family. Its actual size is 31.5 inches wide, 52 inches long and 35 inches high, sold under the nominal 32 x 52 size, with a 23 inch seat. For comparison, the Petite has a 19 inch seat and the Elite a 22 inch seat on the same inward-swinging brushed stainless steel door with frosted tempered glass, as What are the features and size of the Ella Petite walk-in tub? notes. The Royal holds 100 gallons unoccupied and 45 to 65 gallons occupied, and it empties through dual drains: two 2 inch 4-port PVC drains with two end caps, two overflows and two stainless steel operated openers with extended chrome handles.
Included features on the sheet are the gloss white acrylic shell reinforced with fiberglass gelcoat, a stainless steel frame with adjustable leveling legs, a removable front apron with two access panels, one reversible end panel and one 7 inch extension panel, a stainless steel chrome deck-mounted and wall-mounted grab bar, and a removable swivel tray in white matte finish. A heated seat and backrest and a digital controller are optional. Therapy packages run from soaking through hydro massage, hydro with independent foot massage, air plus hydro, hydro plus microbubble, and the triple hydro, air and microbubble package, which the sheet notes is offered on the Royal alone among the stainless-door models. The second video, a customer testimonial filmed in a Royal, describes good water pressure, a tub that filled and drained quickly, and the microbubble therapy.
