My Inspector Wants ASME A112.19.15 Certification for the Tub or Faucet: What Ella Can and Cannot Provide

Ella walk-in tubs are not certified to ASME A112.19.15, and Ella does not issue an ASME certificate for the tub itself. That standard covers bathtubs and whirlpool bathtubs with doors made watertight by a pressure seal, and it is a published standard rather than a listing Ella has pursued. What ASME A112.19.15 Covers

ASME A112.19.15 establishes material, mechanical, electrical, marking and testing requirements for bathtubs and whirlpool bathtubs with doors that are made watertight by a pressure seal. Because a walk-in tub has a door, some plumbing inspectors look for this number during the rough-in inspection. Working Through a Disapproved Rough-In

1. Ask the inspector to write down exactly which standard applies to which component, the tub or the faucet.
2. Open a ticket with your model, serial number and the inspector's note, and request the spec sheets and listing information.
3. Give the inspector the electrical listing label details and the spec sheet page that references ASME A112.18.1 for the hand sprayer.
