Some features can be added to an installed Ella walk-in tub, and some cannot. Accessories that attach to the deck or the wall, such as the 4-fold glass screen, the shower column kit, the hand shower slide bar, extra end panels, seat pillows and risers, the head pillow, the swivel tray and add-on grab bars, can be added later. Anything built into the shell at the factory, including the therapy systems, the heated seat and the aromatherapy plumbing, has to be on the original order. The full sorting of included, optional, special order and fixed features is in What Can and Cannot Be Customized on an Ella Tub: Add-Ons, Special Orders, and Fixed Features.
Why the Shell Decides What Can Change
Every Ella walk-in tub is drilled and jetted to match the order before it leaves the factory. The therapy package sets the jet count and layout, the pumps and the controls, and all of it is built into the shell. The faucet and control holes are pre-drilled in fixed locations, and drilling elsewhere voids the warranty on that part. Because these features are part of the molded shell, there is no on-site kit that adds a jetting system to a tub that was built without it.
What Has to Be Chosen at Order Time
- The door hand and the therapy package, including any special order for three or more therapies on a frame that normally carries two.
- Infusion microbubble where listed for the model, or by special order on the Deluxe and Ultimate.
- The heated seat and backrest, which is factory installed with its own keypad and warms the acrylic while the tub fills and drains.
- Aromatherapy, a four-part canister assembly plumbed into the tub for liquid essential oil.
- The faucet style and finish, the digital touchpad where offered, and a tub with no faucet or control holes if you plan to supply your own fixtures.
Independent foot massage is a good example of a system that cannot be added on site. The foot jets, their pump and the dedicated lines are built into the shell, so a tub ordered without them cannot be fitted in your bathroom. The same applies to adding an air system to a hydro tub or raising the hydro jet count. Which therapy combinations fit which tub shows which frames carry more than one system, so check it before the order is placed.
What Can Be Added Later
Not everything has to be decided up front. The 4-fold glass shower screen, the shower column kit, the hand shower slide bar, extra end panels, seat pillows and risers, the head pillow, the swivel tray and add-on wall grab bars all fit an installed tub. The shower column kit attaches to any Ella 2-piece or 5-piece deck faucet and can be added before or after the tub goes in. The patented 360 degree swivel tray fits most single-seat tubs, even after installation. Ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 which accessories fit your model.
When a Buyer Wants More After Delivery
If a tub has already shipped and you decide you want a feature that lives in the shell, the tub cannot be modified in place. In some cases Ella has agreed to rebuild the same unit with added features once it is shipped back, with the buyer responsible for the shipping in both directions. This is arranged case by case and applies only to upgrading the same tub, so call before the tub is installed if a change is likely. Clearance and warehouse units come exactly as configured and are never modified. A rebuild is not a return, because installed products are not accepted for return.

Common Questions
Can I add a therapy system to my walk-in tub after it is installed? No. Therapies are built into the shell at the factory, and jet counts and layouts cannot be changed on site. Choose the therapy package, or a special order for extra systems, before the order is placed.
Can independent foot massage be added to an installed tub? No. The foot jets, pump and dedicated lines are part of the shell, so a tub ordered without them cannot have them fitted in your bathroom. It is best chosen at order time.
Which accessories can I add to my tub later? The 4-fold glass screen, the shower column kit, the hand shower slide bar, extra end panels, seat pillows and risers, the head pillow, the swivel tray and add-on wall grab bars can all be added to an installed tub. Your Ella dealer or the team can confirm which fit your model.
Can Ella add features to a tub that has already been delivered? In some cases Ella has agreed to rebuild the same unit with added features once it is shipped back, with the buyer covering shipping both ways. This is arranged case by case through the team and applies only to upgrading the same tub.
Can the heated seat be added after the tub is built? No. The heated seat and backrest is built into the tub at the factory with its own keypad, so it needs to be on the original order. The same is true of the aromatherapy plumbing.
