Ella does not offer a dome, a ceiling top panel or a light fixture for its showers. An Ella shower kit is made up of the acrylic base, the wall panels and, if you choose one, a glass door or screen, and the enclosure stays open to your bathroom ceiling. Lighting comes from the fixtures already in the room or from a new fixture your electrician installs, not from a part supplied by Ella.
What an Ella Shower Kit Includes
The kit is built around the shower base, which carries the drain and the threshold and, on some models, a molded seat. Wall panels attach above the base to form the sides of the enclosure. The open side is finished with a curtain rod, a glass door or a screen, depending on the package you select. The guide to shower bases and wall panels describes the base and wall combinations, and the article on glass door and screen options covers the ways to close the front. None of these packages include a roof, a dome, a top panel or a built-in light.
Why There Is No Dome or Top Panel
Ella showers are open-top enclosures that sit inside a finished bathroom. The wall panels are installed against the room's walls, and the space above them is finished by your bathroom ceiling, with steam and moisture handled by the room's ventilation. Because Ella does not make a dome or ceiling panel, an Ella shower cannot be closed in at the top with Ella parts. If a fully enclosed cabin is what you have in mind, that is a different type of product, and your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 can help you decide whether an Ella shower suits the space.
Lighting the Shower
Since no light ships with the shower, plan the lighting as part of the bathroom rather than the enclosure. A licensed electrician can add a ceiling fixture rated for wet or damp locations above the shower area, on a circuit that meets your local electrical code. Decide the fixture location before the wall panels go up so any wiring above the shower is finished first. Ella's support team can answer questions about the shower itself, but fixture selection and wiring are handled by your electrician.
Accessories Ella Does Offer
Although a dome and light are not available, seating and curtain options are. Depending on the model these include molded or fold-up seats and a curtain rod, described in the article on shower seats, benches, chairs and curtain rod installation. Ask your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850 which accessories fit your specific base and wall package before you order, so everything arrives together for the installer.
