What Is HoistAssist on a Walk-In Tub?

HoistAssist is Ella's Transfer3060HL assisted-bathing system, sometimes called the hoist tub, bath hoist or patient lift tub. It pairs a battery-powered hoist with a 60 inch walk-in tub, shell LOLA3060, so a caregiver can lift a bather who cannot stand or slide across into the tub and back out again.

The HoistAssist hoist rolls up to the tub door; a fast-fill tank is shown alongside in this product image.

How It Works

The bather is secured in the hoist seat with its safety harness, and the battery-powered lift raises the seat so the caregiver can lower the bather into the tub and lift them out again after the bath; anti-roll bars steady the stainless steel frame and a battery indicator shows the charge. Lifting capacity is about 440 lbs, and the seat travels from about 18 7/8 inches to 42 1/2 inches above the floor. The tub measures 60 by 29 1/2 by 39 1/4 inches, weighs 233 lbs and holds 70 to 76 gallons in operation, with an aluminum door and frame that give a 39 1/4 inch opening. The drain is a 2 inch horizontal PVC drain with a plunger-and-chain stopper rather than the cable opener used on other Ella tubs. The system carries cETL Intertek, cUPC and USPC IAPMO, ANSI Z124.1.2, ASME A112.19.7, ASME A112.19.15 and CSA B45.5 certifications, which the safety certifications article explains.

Which Ella Models Have It

The hoist belongs only to the Transfer3060HL, and it is ordered as part of the system with the tub (Model profile). Standard Transfer tubs are built for sliding transfers from a wheelchair, and the HomeCare 32x60 (Model profile) fills from a pre-heated tank for a seated bather. Assisted bathing options compared puts them side by side so you can match the level of help to the bather.

What to Know as an Owner

Only the spec sheet is published for the HoistAssist; there is no owner's manual, brochure or dedicated warranty document online, so for lift operation, battery care, electrical details or coverage questions, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call (800) 480-6850 with your serial number and the team will work with you and your installer. The general walk-in tub cleaning instructions apply to the acrylic, and the leveling guide applies to the tub frame. When ordering drain parts, mention the model, since the plunger-and-chain stopper differs from the cable opener on other Ella tubs. For a ticket, have the tub serial number, a description of what the hoist or tub is doing, the state of the battery indicator, and photos or a short video.

Common Questions

What is HoistAssist?
It is Ella's Transfer3060HL assisted-bathing system: a battery-powered hoist paired with a 60 inch tub, shell LOLA3060, for bathers who must be lifted in and out. A caregiver operates the hoist.
How much weight can the HoistAssist hoist lift?
The published lifting capacity is about 440 lbs, and the seat travels from about 18 7/8 inches to 42 1/2 inches above the floor. Those figures come from the spec sheet, the only published document for the system.
Do I have to buy the hoist with the HoistAssist tub?
Yes. The hoist is part of the Transfer3060HL system and is ordered together with the tub through your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850.
Is there an owner's manual for the HoistAssist?
Not currently. Only the spec sheet is published, so open a ticket with your serial number for lift operation, tank controls or electrical details and the team will work directly with you and your installer.
What kind of drain does the HoistAssist tub have?
A 2 inch horizontal PVC drain with a plunger-and-chain stopper, not the cable opener used on other Ella tubs. Mention the model when ordering drain parts so the right stopper is matched.
