What Is a Fast-Fill Faucet on a Walk-In Tub?

A fast-fill faucet on an Ella walk-in tub is one of Ella's deck-mounted faucet sets built to fill the tub as quickly as your home's plumbing allows: the 2-piece single-lever set, designed for 16 GPM at 60 PSI, and the 5-piece set with separate hot and cold levers, designed for 18 GPM. Owners also call it the Ella Fast-Fill, the deck faucet or the tub filler, and both sets come with a pull-out hand shower and two 3/4 inch by 5 foot braided supply lines.

How It Works

On the 2-piece set, lift the lever for on, move it left for hot and right for cold, and press the diverter button under the spout to send water to the hand shower. The spout is solid brass in chrome with a high-flow cartridge. On the 5-piece set, the red handle is hot, the blue handle is cold, and the middle lever is the diverter: turn it toward OFF and push the faucet lever down for the hand shower. The hand shower on both sets has 5 flow settings, is limited to 1.9 GPM, and rides on a 5 foot braided hose with a back-flow prevention valve. Our 2-piece vs 5-piece article shows the layout of each set, and the 2-piece set is certified to CSA B125.1, ASME A112.18.1, ICC 117.1, ANSI/NSF 61/9 and IAPMO UPC with an ADA lever.

Which Ella Models Have It

Most Ella walk-in tubs ship with a fast-fill set in the style listed for the model. The Standard and Standard60 come with the 5-piece set, while the Zen and Zen60 and the Flow come with the 2-piece single-lever set; see the Standard and Standard60, Zen and Zen60 and Flow profiles. The LayDown72 is faucet-ready and can take either set as an option, and the LayDown60 has no deck faucet. On your paperwork, the code 5P-FFF is the 5-piece set, and a finish suffix such as BN means brushed nickel.

What to Know as an Owner

  • In real homes, fill time runs 7 to 15 minutes depending on tub size and your water supply. The GPM figures assume 60 PSI and ideal plumbing. Our faucet expectations article explains what affects it.
  • Shut-off valves are not included, so plan easily accessible ones near the tub. See water supply lines and shutoff valves.
  • A dripping or stiff 2-piece faucet usually needs a fresh cartridge; the cartridge replacement steps are simple.
  • Hoses and handsets are matched to your set, and the 5-piece hose does not fit the 2-piece faucet.
  • For a ticket, have your model, serial number, a photo of the faucet and a short description ready at ellasbubbles.com/support so the team can match the exact part.

Common Questions

How fast does an Ella walk-in tub fill?
In real homes, fill time ranges from 7 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the tub and the configuration of your water supply lines. The 2-piece set is designed for 16 GPM and the 5-piece for 18 GPM at 60 PSI with ideal plumbing.
What is the difference between the 2-piece and 5-piece fast-fill faucet?
The 2-piece has a single lever for temperature and flow with a diverter button under the spout. The 5-piece has separate red hot and blue cold handles with a middle diverter lever. Both include a pull-out hand shower and two supply lines.
Why does the hand shower flow less than the spout?
The hand shower is limited to 1.9 GPM by design across its 5 flow settings. The spout carries the full fill rate, which is why the faucet fills the tub quickly and the hand shower rinses gently.
Do the faucet sets include shut-off valves?
No. Each set includes two 3/4 inch by 5 foot braided supply lines, but shut-off valves are not included and should be planned near the tub during installation.
