Finding a stray screw in the bottom of the crate is a common moment of worry, and the good news is that it is usually not a sign that something came off the tub. In most cases the loose piece is the small set screw for the faucet handles, which you tighten when you mount the handles during installation. Less often it is a pump mounting piece that comes packaged with the pumps but is not used on Ella tubs, and that piece can simply be discarded. A quick photo sent to support settles it either way.
The Faucet Handle Set Screw
Each faucet handle on an Ella fast-fill faucet is held in place by a small set screw. That screw is easy to lose during transit and sometimes shakes free of its bag, which is why it turns up on the crate floor or under the tub. Keep it with the faucet parts. When your installer puts the faucet handles on the tub, the set screw is tightened to keep the handle attached. If a handle later works loose, the set screw is usually the reason; Why does my faucet handle keep falling off? shows how to snug it back down.
Pump Mounting Hardware You Will Not Use
The pumps arrive from their manufacturer with their own mounting hardware. Ella mounts the pumps a different way inside the tub, so that hardware is not needed. Occasionally one of those pieces falls into the parts box during assembly and travels with the tub. If support identifies your loose piece as pump mounting hardware, you can discard it with confidence. Nothing on the tub is missing it.
How to Get a Loose Part Identified
- Set the part on a plain background next to a ruler or tape measure and take a clear, well-lit photo.
- Note where you found it, for example on the crate floor, under the tub or inside the parts box.
- Open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support, attach the photo and include your model and serial number from the label behind the magnetic access panel.
- Support will tell you what the part is and whether it belongs on the tub, goes with a loose accessory or can be discarded.
- Hold onto the part until you have an answer, and tell your installer about it before they begin.
Check the Rest of the Crate While You Are at It
Since you are already looking, this is a good time to account for everything that ships loose with the tub. What is in the crate lists the items to look for before the installer starts. If something on that list is not in the crate, Parts are missing from the crate explains what to do next. Drain handles and door handles have their own guides too; see Why are my drain handles loose? and the door latch and handle guide for how they are fitted.
