If you need to turn the jets off in an emergency, use the same controls that started them: each function has its own on and off control on the deck, and none of them needs a sequence to stop. Hydro massage is one press on and one press off. Air massage cycles high, medium and low, and the fourth press turns it off. The chromatherapy light turns off with a two second hold. The in line heater has no switch of its own; it runs only while the hydro pump runs and stops the moment the hydro stops. That is true on every model, including the Petite and tubs with microbubbles. To remove all power from the tub, switch off its dedicated GFCI breakers at the panel. The tub runs on its own dedicated circuits, so nothing else in the house goes dark.
Likely Causes
- A jet or air setting that feels too strong and needs to stop now; the push controls versus digital touchpad guide shows every control.
- Confusion about the air button, which steps down through speeds rather than switching off on the first press.
- A wish to cut every circuit at once, which is done at the breaker panel rather than on the deck.
What to Check, in Order
- Hydro: press the hydro button once. The pump stops and the in line heater stops with it. On the touchpad, press the hydro icon once to stop.
- Air: press the air button gently until it shuts off; from high that is three more presses. On the touchpad, hold the air icon for two seconds.
- Microbubble: it keeps its own push button even on touchpad tubs. Press it to stop, the same way it was started.
- Light: hold the light button for about two seconds.
- Everything at once: switch off the tub's dedicated GFCI breakers at the panel, or press Test on the GFCI outlet if it is within reach. The electrical requirements guide explains how the tub's circuits are laid out. Once the emergency is over, remember that an air massage tub will still run its two minute Auto Purge about 20 minutes after the air was switched off, as long as it has power.
When to Open a Ticket
If the in line heater or jets turned off on their own mid bath, or a control will not stop its function, open a ticket at ellasbubbles.com/support or call your Ella dealer or the team at (800) 480-6850. Include your serial number, which function was running, whether the GFCI tripped, and a photo of the blue control box with its cords and air tubes, so the team can confirm the cause.
