The HomeCare 32x60 fills the tub from an 80 gallon internal tank that is pre-filled at a preset temperature, and almost every "it will not fill" or "it will not inject" call comes down to the tank's built-in logic rather than a broken part. The Fill button that sends water into the tub only works while the tank level is above the mid sensor; tank filling and tub injection can never run at the same time, so starting one disables the other; the whole system shuts itself off after one hour; and one hour after it shuts off, a drain solenoid quietly empties whatever water is left in the tank. A tank that "drained itself overnight" is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

How the Tank Logic Works

  • On/Off wakes the tank panel (the keypad backlight turns blue). While the tank system is on, the inlet solenoid opens and the tank fills through the thermostatic mixing valves at the temperature set on the rotary control. The high sensor stops the fill automatically.
  • Fill (water injection) pumps the stored water into the tub. It only runs when the tank level is above the mid sensor; this protects the tank pump from running dry. Once the tank empties and the tub is full, injection stops on its own.
  • One or the other, never both. Tank filling and tub injection cannot run simultaneously. If you press Fill while the tank is still taking in water, or start a refill while injection is running, the first function stops. Wait for the tank to finish, then press the other.
  • Auto shut-off. The system turns itself off after one hour of being on. After it has been off for one hour, the drain program opens the solenoid and the remaining tank water drains away. An air respirator valve lets air in and out so the tank does not pull a vacuum.

The published spec figures for a normal installation are a tub fill of about 90 seconds from the tank, a tank refill of about 11 minutes under ideal plumbing conditions, and a tub drain of about 150 seconds. Your own plumbing and water pressure change the tank refill time.

Seeing the two-stage process makes the "one or the other" rule obvious: the tank must finish taking water in before it can push water out.

What the Keypad Lights Mean

  • Blue backlight: the tank system is on.
  • Level bar blinking bottom to top: the tank is filling.
  • Level bar blinking top to bottom: injection into the tub is running.
  • Yellow: the water level is between the mid and high sensors. Fill is available.
  • Red: the water level is between the low and minimum sensors. Fill will not run until the tank refills past the mid sensor.
  • Temperature display: the real-time tank temperature from the temperature sensor, not the tub temperature.

The Four Sensors and What Each One Stops

  1. Low sensor: three seconds after the water drops below it, the system stops filling and closes the tank panel.
  2. Mid sensor: the gate for the Fill (injection) function. Below it, Fill is locked out.
  3. High sensor: triggers the automatic shut-off while the tank is taking in water.
  4. Temperature sensor: feeds the display and works with the thermostatic mixing valves.

If the tank appears full but Fill still does nothing, note what the level bar and color are showing and include that in your ticket.

Two Cords on 20 Amp GFCI Protected Lines

The HomeCare has two power cords: the grey cord is the water tank system and the black cord is the hydro massage pump. Both go to 20 amp dedicated GFCI protected 115/120 volt service. A dead keypad with working hydro jets (or the reverse) usually means one cord has come loose or one outlet has lost power, so check both cords and reset the GFCI and breaker before assuming a fault. Drains: Tank, Tub, and the DRAIN Switch

The tank has its own 1/2 inch drain outlet that the installer tees into the bathroom drain alongside the 2 inch tub drain; that is where the automatic one-hour tank drain goes. The tub itself has a 2 inch cable-operated pop-up drain with a built-in air vent, plus a separate Hydro Massage Drain that is controlled by the DRAIN switch on the controller. Temperature Not What You Set

The mixing valves blend hot and cold to the rotary setting, so before suspecting a valve, confirm that the home's hot water supply is keeping up and that both supply shut-off valves are fully open. If the temperature on the display swings or never reaches the setting with plenty of hot water available, note the reading and include it in your ticket. Common Questions

The tank will not fill. What should I check?
Confirm the keypad backlight is blue, which means the tank system is on, and that the grey cord for the tank system is plugged into a live outlet. Reset the GFCI and the breaker on that line, and make sure both supply shut-off valves are fully open so water can reach the mixing valves. Remember that tank filling and tub injection cannot run at the same time, so if injection is running the tank will not take in water until it finishes. If the tank still will not fill, note what the level bar and color are showing and include that in your ticket.
Fill works but nothing injects into the tub.
Look at the color on the keypad. Red means the water level is between the low and minimum sensors, below the mid sensor, and Fill is locked out to protect the tank pump from running dry. Let the tank continue filling until the level bar shows yellow, which means the water is between the mid and high sensors, and then press Fill. If the keypad shows yellow and Fill still does nothing, photograph the keypad and open a ticket.
The tank emptied itself overnight. Is something broken?
No. The system turns itself off after one hour, and one hour after it shuts off the drain program opens the drain solenoid and empties whatever water is left in the tank through its own drain outlet. An air respirator valve lets air in so the tank does not pull a vacuum while it drains. A tank that is empty the next morning is doing exactly what it was designed to do.
Why did the system turn off after an hour?
An automatic one-hour shut-off is built into the HomeCare tank system, so the panel turns off on its own after one hour of being on. This is normal behavior and not a fault. Press On/Off to wake the tank panel again, and the keypad backlight turns blue when the system is back on. Keep in mind that the tank drains itself one hour after the shut-off, so a refill may be needed before the next bath.
What do the yellow and red lights mean?
Yellow means the water level is between the mid and high sensors, and the Fill function is available to inject water into the tub. Red means the water level is between the low and minimum sensors, and Fill is locked out until the tank refills past the mid sensor. A level bar blinking from bottom to top shows the tank is filling, while a bar blinking from top to bottom shows injection into the tub is running.
Can I fill the tank and inject at the same time to go faster?
No. Tank filling and tub injection are interlocked so that activating one disables the other, and pressing Fill while the tank is still taking in water simply stops the fill. Let the tank finish filling on its own, which the high sensor stops automatically, and then press Fill to inject the stored water into the tub. Waiting for each stage to finish is the fastest route to a full bath.
The hydro jets work but the keypad is dead.
The two systems run on separate cords and separate lines. The black cord powers the hydro massage pump and the grey cord powers the water tank system, and each goes to its own 20 amp dedicated GFCI protected outlet. When the jets run but the keypad is dark, check that the grey cord is firmly plugged in and reset the GFCI and breaker for the outlet it uses. If the keypad is still dark after that, photograph the cords at the outlet and open a ticket.
Can the bather operate the tank alone?
No. The HomeCare is designed exclusively for assisted bathing, and a caregiver or trained professional should operate the tank and be present for every bath.
