If your grab bar is the wrong size or was not in the box, start by checking what your model includes and where it was packed. Most Ella walk-in tubs include a chrome stainless steel grab bar, and many include both a deck mount bar and a wall mount bar, but the Petite and Companion include a deck mount bar only and the Tub4Two and the LayDown tubs do not come with a grab bar at all. The deck bar ships loose in a bag with its hardware, and its instructions ship in the white envelope on top of the plastic wrap, which can fall into the tub during unpacking. For shower kits, the bar length is set by the package on your order.

Likely Causes

• A model that does not include a grab bar, such as the Tub4Two
• The bar and hardware bag still inside the tub or under the frame
• A shower kit package with 24 inch bars, such as Liberty 24, when 36 inch bars were expected
• A U shape bar from a different model, since that bar is exclusive to the Standard and Zen platform

What to Check, in Order

1. Look up your model in grab bars: what is included and add on bars. The spec sheet lists a deck bar, a wall bar, both, or none.
2. Look inside the tub and under the frame, where small items are boxed before crating. The bag should hold one chrome bar, two escutcheons, four rubber washers, two large metal washers, two bolts and an Allen wrench. See what is in the crate.
3. Install the deck bar in this order on each bolt: metal washer, rubber washer, up through the shell from underneath, rubber washer, escutcheon, thread loosely into the bar, then tighten both with the Allen wrench. Never install it without the large metal washer under the shell; omitting it can crack the acrylic and voids the warranty.
4. For a shower kit, compare the model number on your order with the carton. Liberty 24 packages include three 24 inch stainless bars, and a Liberty 36 variant is also listed. If the order says one and the box holds the other, report it to where you purchased with photos and the order number.
5. For wall bars in a shower kit, the mounting locations are in that kit's manual, and Ella stalls have Armorcore reinforced walls so bars can be added without hunting for studs; see installing shower seats, benches and chairs.
6. To add a bar beside the tub, mount it on the wall anchored into the framing, never into the tub deck, since altering the tub is excluded from warranty coverage.

When to Open a Ticket
