Bidet jets on an Ella's Bubbles walk-in tub are air jets, not water jets. They belong to the three-speed air massage system, sit at the base of the seat where they help bathers clean hard-to-reach places, and run whenever the air massage runs, at whichever speed you have chosen. They have no switch of their own. This page explains the three air jet positions on each tub family, which tubs have bidet jets, how the speeds apply, and what to do if you would rather not feel a particular jet.

The Three Air Jet Positions

Ella's owner manuals for the stainless inward-swing family, the Ultra and the U-shape outward-swing family all label the same three groups of fixed air jets:

  • Upper air massage jets in the seat and backrest area, working the back and hips.
  • Bidet air massage jets at the base of the seat, positioned for personal hygiene.
  • Lower air massage jets in the floor of the footwell for the feet.

Ella's product pages describe the jets as fixed flat jets that deliver a gentle massage. In Ella's jet tour video, the air jets are brass rather than plastic because you sit and stand on them.

The video shows the layout. Ella places jets in positions others do not: hip jets, feet jets and even bidet jets. The tubs come with digital or easy-touch push buttons that activate the three-speed air massage system, and the air jets are visible in the seat, at the base of the seat and in the footwell. It closes with Auto Purge, which activates 20 minutes after the tub is turned off to clear leftover moisture from the air lines and prevent mold and mildew. It points out the recessed back water jets, the low hip jets that run down the leg, the air jets around the base of the seat, the three bidet jets on the tub shown, and the brass air jets. It also notes that the foot jets sit on a beveled edge angled at the heel and the ball of the foot, and that every massage tub has an auto purge cycle that blows air through the lines after each use. Counts by Family

  • Transfer family with the Hydro plus Air package. Jet count on a Transfer tub depends on the therapy package. With the Hydro plus Air package, Ella's Transfer32 product description lists 17 air jets: eleven upper fixed flat jets for the back, hips and thighs, of which two are bidet jets, plus six jets in the lower foot area for the feet and calves. The Transfer32 spec sheet lists the same 11 seat and 6 foot split. With the Hydro Massage or Hydro plus Foot Massage package there is no air system, so there are no bidet jets.
  • ShaK. Ella's launch article states the ShaK is equipped with 37 jets in total, including 3 bidet jets to aid in cleaning difficult-to-reach places. Its spec sheet lists the air system as 12 seat jets and 4 foot jets.
  • Other families. The manuals show bidet air jets on the Air plus Hydro diagrams for the stainless inward-swing tubs, the Ultra and the U-shape outward-swing tubs. Which Tubs Have Bidet Jets

Bidet jets come with the air massage system, so a tub has them when it is built with an air package: Air plus Hydro, or a triple package that adds independent foot massage or microbubbles to Air plus Hydro. A hydro-only or soaking configuration has no air system and therefore no bidet jets. Air jets are plumbed into the shell at the factory and cannot be added later, so if you are choosing a configuration and want bidet jets, make sure the air massage system is part of it. Speeds Apply to the Whole System

Pressing the Air button once gives high speed, a second press medium, a third press low and a fourth press turns the system off. The bidet jets follow along with every other air jet, so yes, they run at all three speeds, and there is no way to switch off only the seat or bidet jets. If the bidet jets are too much for you at high speed, the low setting is the gentlest option. If You Would Rather Not Feel a Jet

Ella's seat pillow riser is offered in a standard shape and in a version with a bidet cutout. The cutout version raises the seat while leaving the bidet area open so those jets still flow; the standard riser without the cutout sits over the seat area. Common Questions

Which tubs have bidet jets?
Any Ella walk-in tub configured with the air massage system includes bidet jets. For example, the Transfer family's Hydro plus Air package features 2 bidet jets among its 11 upper jets, and the ShaK model is equipped with 3 bidet jets. Tubs with a hydro-only or soaking configuration do not have an air system and therefore do not include bidet jets.
Where are the air jets located?

Yes, the bidet jets run at all three speeds. The three-speed air massage system is activated by digital or Easy Touch push buttons, and pressing the Air button cycles through high, medium, and low speeds. The speed you select applies to the entire air system, so the bidet jets operate at high, medium, or low speed along with every other air jet.
Can I turn off only the seat or bidet jets?
No, you cannot turn off only the seat or bidet jets independently. The bidet jets are part of the three-speed air massage system and run whenever the air massage runs, at whichever speed you have chosen. There is no separate switch for them; they turn on and off with the rest of the air system. If the bidet jets are too intense at high speed, the low setting is the gentlest option, and a seat pillow riser can change what you feel on the seat.
Can I cover a jet I do not want?
Covering or plugging an individual air jet is not a published option. Can I order replacement air jets or jet covers?
Yes. Replacement air jets, jet covers, air tubing and connectors are available; open a ticket with a photo of the jet, the quantity and your model and serial number. Do air jets get cleaned by the monthly vinegar flush?
Yes, the air jets, including the bidet jets, get cleaned by the monthly vinegar flush described in the cleaning and monthly maintenance guide. This monthly flush runs through every jet in the tub. Additionally, the Auto Purge system dries the air lines after each use, which helps prevent mold and mildew, but it does not replace the monthly cleaning.
