Can I Order an Ella Walk-In Tub in a Color Other Than White?

No. Every current Ella walk-in tub is made in white, and there is no color to select when you order. Off-white appears only on occasional clearance listings, so a tub that looks pink, yellow or off-white in your bathroom is a surface film, a ring from the jets or a finish concern to look at, never a color you chose, as explained in Why Does My White Walk-In Tub Look Pink, Yellow or Stained?.

What Is White Across the Ella Line

The tub shell is molded from high-gloss white acrylic. On the U-shape outward-swing family (Capri, Monaco, Front Entry, Mobile, Lounger, Shak and Big4One) the door is a white composite frame holding a tempered glass panel. Fixtures such as the faucet, the jet trim and the knobs on the folding glass screen are chrome, and the only color decision on a tub order is which options and therapy package you want, not the shell finish.

Showers follow the same rule. Ella shower stalls, bases and wall panels are offered in white only. Beige is the color customers ask about most often, and it is not available on the base, the walls or the stall. Do Ella Shower Stall Walls Come Smooth, or Only With the Molded Tile Pattern? covers that along with the molded tile texture, which is likewise fixed at the factory.

Because neither the tub nor the shower can be supplied in another color, plan the room around white from the start. Coordinate floor tile, wall paint and the vanity with a white tub, and treat the white finish as expected when the pieces arrive.

Why the Door Can Look Like a Different White

If the door on your tub reads as a slightly different shade of white than the shell, that is expected on the U-shape outward-swing tubs. Acrylic and composite take pigment and reflect light differently, so even a very close match looks a little different under bathroom lighting, and acrylic also varies slightly from batch to batch. The factory matches the door as closely as the materials allow, and the small variance is noted on the Ella's Bubbles website. It is a cosmetic characteristic, not a defect, and it has no effect on the seal or the latches. Swapping the door for a closer match is not recommended, because every tub is water-tested at the factory with its own door fitted and a different door can cause a leak. The full explanation is in Why the Tub Door Is a Slightly Different White Than the Tub Shell. Inspect the tub as soon as it is unpacked, before installation begins, while the door and shell can be viewed together in daylight.

Where Color Does Come from: The Vanity and the LED Light

Two parts of an Ella bathroom carry color. Ella bathroom vanities are sold in finishes including black/espresso, grey and white, and matching touch-up paint is stocked for those finishes and ships by UPS. Give the exact finish name from your order when you ask, because a vanity that reads as dark brown in one light may be the black/espresso finish. Details are in Touch-Up Paint for an Ella Bathroom Vanity with Chips or Uneven Spots. That vanity paint is a cabinet product and is not made for the acrylic tub surface, and Ella does not offer a tinted or painted finish for the shell.

Inside the tub, color comes from the chromatherapy LED. It cycles through eight colors: press the light button once to start the cycle, keep pressing to hold a color you like, and press and hold for two seconds to turn it off. The light is included with the dual and triple therapy packages and is available as an extra with hydro-only tubs, but it is not offered on the Front Entry with any package or on the LayDown tubs. What Is Chromatherapy (LED Light) on a Walk-In Tub? explains how the button and the control box work. The short chromatherapy video shows the color range cycling in the tub and the single-press and press-and-hold controls.

If Your White Tub Does Not Look White

  1. Look at the tub in daylight with the bathroom lights off. Warm bulbs and colored walls reflect into a white shell and can make it read pink or yellow.
  2. Wipe the area with mild dish soap or a 1 to 1 white vinegar and water mix on a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Never use abrasive pads or powders on the acrylic.
  3. If a ring forms after the jets run, flush the lines: combine 2 cups of white vinegar with 2 cups of water, fill the tub to 1 inch above the highest jets, add the mixture, run the tub for 10 minutes, then drain. Repeat until the water runs clear.
  4. If the tint remains, or the surface looks dull, chalky or worn, stop cleaning and take two or three daylight photos of the area next to a clean part of the shell.
  5. Send the photos, your model and serial number, and a note on what you cleaned with to ellasbubbles.com/support or (800) 480-6850. The shell and finish carry the Lifetime Limited Warranty for defects, and the team confirms what they are seeing from the pictures.

Common Questions

Does Ella make walk-in tubs in beige or off-white?
No. Every current Ella walk-in tub is white, and off-white appears only on occasional clearance listings. Beige is not offered on tubs or on showers.
Why is my tub door a different white than the shell?
On the U-shape outward-swing tubs the door is a white composite frame with a glass panel, while the shell is high-gloss white acrylic, and the two materials never take on exactly the same white. It is a known cosmetic characteristic, not a defect, and swapping the door is not recommended because the tub was water-tested with its own door.
Can I paint or refinish the acrylic tub another color?
Ella does not offer a tinted or painted finish for the acrylic shell. The touch-up paint Ella stocks is matched to painted vanity cabinets and is not made for the acrylic tub surface.
Do Ella shower stalls come in any color besides white?
No. Shower stalls, bases and wall panels are offered in white only, and the molded tile pattern on the stall walls is also fixed. Plan tile, paint and the vanity around a white shower.
Does chromatherapy change the color of the tub?
The shell stays white. Chromatherapy is a multi-colored LED inside the tub that cycles through eight colors, and you can hold one color by pressing the button again or turn it off by holding for two seconds.
What finishes do Ella bathroom vanities come in?
Black/espresso, grey and white have all been supplied, and matching touch-up paint is stocked for those finishes. Ask with the exact finish name from your order, since stock at the warehouse changes.
